Mondo Fest! Sleepies, Shop Talk, Joey Sprinkles [Joe Boyer of Chomp]

Sleepies are a weirdo punk act based in Bushwick. They do the whole loud and fast thing as well as anybody. But what I like about them is there's always something *off* about their songs--an extra beat, a curveball chord change, the mangled and maniacal way singer Thomas Seely wraps his words around a melody, coming in and out of pitch. (What a voice and sense of meter.) If they have spiritual forebears, it's the Buzzcocks and Wire and scuzzier stuff like Hickey and Big Boys. Their full-length albums, both produced by The Men's Ben Greenberg, have a fabulously smoldered, disintegrating quality to them that fits the lyrics to a T. Christ. I really love these guys. They can really fucking play.

Oh Boland are a three piece noisy guitar pop band from Tuam, Co. Galway.

A band equally in love with the Can-nier moments of Thee Oh Sees and Yo La Tengo and the summer pop jangle of The Clean. Catching them live is wholly recommended, the musical joins visible in the best early-Pavement way.

In 2013 they self-released two free EPs aptly titled 'OH!' and 'HO!' produced by Brian Kelly of So Cow fame and in 2014 they released a 10 track split cassette; 'DELPHI' with Westport's Me and My Dog through Dublin's best pop collective Popical Island.

In October 2014 Oh Boland recorded a 10 track album entitled 'Split Milk' produced by Mark Chester
(Ginnels) set for release in 2016.

Oh Boland have played with the likes of The Sonics, Paul Collins (The Beat/The Nerves), The Growlers, Protomartyr, Sheer Mag, Parquet Courts, Speedy Ortiz and Metz.
