The group formed in 1992, and quickly found wide exposure, releasing a vinyl EP in 1993 and touring with acts such as Sunny Day Real Estate, Chore, Jawbox, Season to Risk, The Jesus Lizard, and Girls Against Boys. The group released their first LP, Splay (recorded at Steve Albini's Chicago studio) in 1996, and a second album, Lula Divinia the next year. Sub Pop took notice, and released a 7" single of the group's songs "Sleep it Off" and "Half Empty". Following this the band toured with Hum and Swervedriver in 1998. A third full-length, Starless, was released on a label run by members of The Descendents, Owned and Operated, in 2000. A fourth LP, The Egg, would follow before the group broke up in 2002. This was recorded and produced at Matt Talbot's recording studio.
With four albums under their belt, and over a thousand shows across a decade of touring, the four people behind Rosetta have branched out. Adding longtime friend Eric Jernigan (City of Ships) on guitar for the fifth full length album, Rosetta continues to broaden their harmonic and sonic experiments. Carrying the torch of 90s experimental rock with Fugazi's independent ethos, they merge a deep melodic sobriety with progressive and confrontational heaviness.
Spotlights is the Brooklyn-based married couple of Mario and Sarah Quintero, both formerly of Sleep Lady, whose 2012 album So Long Lonely Ghost was produced by Aaron Harris of Isis.
In Spotlights, the Quinteros summon a supreme sound, equally heavy and dreamy. A tar-pit sludge-rock foundation is blanketed by layers of shimmering shoegaze. Their debut full length Tidals was released on Crowquill Records in the spring of 2016 as a follow up to the synth laden, doom-pop EP, Demonstration. Tidals' songs rock hard and memorably, bringing to mind hints of bands, from Failure to My Bloody Valentine to Godflesh to Smashing Pumpkins and beyond.
Spotlights has been handpicked by Deftones to support the band on two weeks of its summer U.S. tour for 2016. Followed up by a second national run in September with If These Trees Could Talk.
