Hot Tub with Kristen
Hosted by Kurt Braunohler and Kristen Schaal, this weekly variety show features comedy from New York’s best comics and sketch groups, new music, and the occasionally oddity.
Please note that Kristen's co-host and partner-in-crime, Kurt Braunohler, won't be joining us this evening. He has more important matters to attend to, obviously.
Andy Zaltzman has firmly established himself in the vanguard of British comedy with his unique brand of political comedy. In 2007, Andy performed an award-winning Melbourne Festival debut, winning the Piece Of Wood Award as the comedian’s comedian. Alongside John Oliver, Andy has co-written and hosted the BBC Radio 4 show Political Animal, based on their satirical live stand-up show, and has co-written and starred in three series of BBC Radio 4’s satirical show, The Department. Andy is a regular at the Edinburgh Festival and this year took his show Armchair Revolutionary alongside live shows of Political Animal with John Oliver and guests.
Alongside John Oliver, Andy has co written and hosted well over 100 episodes of The Bugle; an ongoing series of satirical news podcasts, produced in association with The Times and has written for, and performed on, John Oliver’s one hour Comedy Central stand up special Terrifying Times, later released on DVD. Since being nominated for the Perrier Best Newcomer Award in 2001, Andy has gone on to take seven acclaimed solo shows to the Edinburgh Festival.
Michael Che is a stand-up comic from the Lower East Side of Manhattan. As the youngest child of seven, he has been his family's source of comic relief since he was old enough to wear diapers. Growing up with much older siblings, Che became familiar with stand-up comedy at a very young age when he watched Eddie Murphyand Damon Wayans' specials. However, it wasn't until he attended LaGuardia Music and Performing Arts High School that he realized performing could be a future career. Che has been featured at major comedy clubs throughout Manhattan, but has built a name for himself playing alternative rooms in New York's downtown scene.
Jessi Klein is a New York comedian who appeared occasionally on The Showbiz Show with David Spade. She was previously a panelist on VH1’s Best Week Ever, and appeared on Comedy Central’s Premium Blend. She also provided commentary for CNN in the debates of the 2004 presidential election. A self-proclaimed “geek”, Klein appeared on such television specials as My Coolest Years: Geeks on VH1 and Rise of the Geeks on E!. Klein has served as the director of development for Comedy Central and helped shepherd the network’s hit series Chappelle’s Show. She appeared as herself in the episode where Chappelle left the show and was replaced by Wayne Brady. Klein provided the voice of Lucy in the pilot for Adult Swim’s Lucy, The Daughter of the Devil. Klein has also worked on Staff for the ABC series, Samantha Who? Starring Christina Applegate in Los Angeles. She is currently developing the feature Walk of Shame at Universal with Mosaic producing.
Front Page Films
Front Page Films began in 2007 when filmmaker/comedian Oren Brimer met writer/comedian Pete Holmes and his then-roommate actor/comedian Matt McCarthy. They combined their powers to make short films -- kind of like Captain Planet, but funny on purpose.
