Mad Anthony has been detonating their brand of loud, Garage/Punk Rock since 2007. “So what does Mad Anthony play exactly? From its volume and breakneck vigor, it’s Punk, pure and simple, but there is so much more at work here. Vocalist/guitarist Ringo Jones is like Iggy Pop channeling the spirit of Mississippi John Hurt in a Dead Boys tribute, screaming until the veins in his neck stand out like bridge cable under his skin. When Jones and guitarist/vocalist Adam Flaig start trading riffs, there’s a galloping rhythm that suggests Dave Alvin in his seminal Blasters days with a live power line down his trousers. And the rhythm section of power bassist Dave Markey and new drummer Marc Sherlock is thunder personified… If you see the name Mad Anthony on a telephone pole, get the information and get there. It will change you.”
Honah Lee is Dim, Tim, Jim, and Tony G.
Hailing from Trenton, NJ, Honah Lee was formed in 2008 by a group of hardworking musicians native to the area. The four boys of Honah Lee – singer/guitarist Tim, bassist Jim, lead guitarist Dim, and drummer Tony G - specialize in catchy, melodic, hard-hitting rock and roll with the energy, abandon, and attitude of punk rock. Honah Lee’s live performances are an intoxicating (in more ways than one) celebration of music and mayhem and they have been hitting the underground touring circuit hard for the past few years, sharing their gospel of hard-earned musical jubilation on stages big and small.
The 2011 album Life Won't Let Me (GTG Records) brought Honah Lee national attention with The Punk Site declaring the album to be "crisp, snotty, punk that isn’t afraid to dabble in big choruses or full bodied guitar solos" while Jersey Beat spotlighted the "depth in their writing and performing, spinning off heartfelt rave-ups as well as trenchant social satire" and the Huffington Post rightly noted them as a band to "expect to hear a lot of buzz about." Honah Lee returns in 2015 with their third full-length album 33 On 45 (GTG Records), as well as an accompanying DVD entitled Music To Look At.
33 On 45 (a reference to the band's tendency to perform songs live at breakneck speed) was recorded with Joe Boldizar at Retro City Studios in Philadelphia, PA throughout 2013 and 2014 between Honah Lee's many tours and it features both their heaviest and catchiest music to date. Influenced by the sugary distorted frenzy of the early work of Foo Fighters and Weezer, Honah Lee marry their punk rock energy to strong songwriting on 33 On 45 to create what feels like a warp-speed greatest hits album that packs in more hooks than its just-under-a-half-hour running time would suggest.
Leading up the early 2015 release of the album, Honah Lee released a music video every month in 2014 to accompany the songs that now have a collective home on the new album, as well as a few bonus cuts. These music videos are collected on the DVD Music To Look At, which was directed and edited by Anthony Catanese (Tony Goggles) at Exit 7A Studios in Trenton, NJ. Truly a working band, Honah Lee will be bringing all of this music and more to the masses while touring nationally in 2015.
