A DIY project with worldwide scope, Slow Magic is universal and inclusive. It's cosmic electronic music culled from the ether, yet crafted with human hands. It's joyous, escapist, multi-disciplinary art that mixes transcendent performance with the nostalgic intimacy of two teenagers staying up too late on the phone.
After the release of 2012's beloved and critically-acclaimed Triangle, Slow Magic became an international movement after touring with artists like Gold Panda and XXYYXX. Crowds found a masked man in their midst, bathed in fantastic light, with electronic triggers and a drum. The future-primitive combination infused the project's electronic compositions with new life.
How To Run Away, Slow Magic's debut with Downtown Records, reflects this growth, oozing both otherworldly beauty and a mastery of production. Lead single "Girls" is deconstructionist house with an organic pulse and collaged, handcrafted samples. "Hold Still" sculpts elastic organs and jazz piano into an emotionally-pummeling finale, while the melancholy "Let U Go" merges watery dub with spectral piano and "Closer" plays like a '90s R&B fever dream.
Slow Magic is music by your imaginary friend.
With a robust early following and organic online buzz, Giraffage offers a fresh, sample-rich sound of dreamy pop beats, sensual synths and lush experimental electronica. The creation of 23 year-old Charlie Yin of San Francisco, Giraffage is an exciting new producer with an intuitive grasp of modern music manipulation, delivering beats that are dripping with vibes and accessible to all.
Starting his musical journey in high school as a drummer for an eclectic array of bands from metal to indie rock, Yin turned to guitar and then soon moved to electronic music production on illegally downloaded software. Inspired by such pioneers as Daft Punk and Boards of Canada, Giraffage is a true bedroom producer that started playing out only after gaining solid traction for his music online. Sending out his first album for free to various music blogs and online publications, Giraffage quickly found an ardent fan following for his hazy and seductive style.
Early supporters of Giraffage's screwed-down soundscapes, sample-based pop music and future R&B include such publications as Pitchfork, XLR8R, The Fader and Gorilla vs. Bear. After an extensive tour with the artist xxyyxx through Europe last year, Giraffage has big plans for 2013, with numerous upcoming performance dates including a Brooklyn Vegan showcase at SXSW and at Los Angeles' world-renowned Low End Theory club night. Considered one to watch by industry insiders and the online underground, Giraffage's newest release "Needs" is out for free February 26 on Alpha Pup Records.
Daktyl uses his multi-instrumentalist talents and diverse musical background to make insane beat driven grooves of a new future sound which completely disregards the confines of a single genre.
Having recently completed a 32 date tour of the US and Canada with Slow Magic, Daktyl now has a string of forthcoming releases with Mad Decent.
In July, Daktyl released an official remix of Dawn Golden's 'Last Train' on Mad Decent, which sparked their interest in his music and led to them signing him.
Daktyl is one of the few British artists to be signed with Mad Decent.
The first single to be released is 'Forgettable', featuring Evan Mellows. The track embodies the essence of Daktyl's sound.
This will be followed up by a further single and the release of his first album 'Cyclical' in April 2015.
More recently, Daktyl is one of three artists to be asked to do an official remix of Flosstradamus' single 'Rebound' and premiered a remix of Dirty South's 'Unbreakable' on Hegemon's SoundCloud.
He has been featured on Billboard, noisey, Thump, Do Androids Dance, inthemix, Earmilk, Rinse FM, edm.com, TheSoundYouNeed, Run The Trap and many more.
He has also had remixes on Columbia Records, a guest mix on Toddla T's BBC Radio 1 show and has a R1 Diplo + Friends mix airing soon.
His energetic live performances have seen him play alongside the likes of XXYYXX, Baauer, Plastician, Lunice, Artful Dodger, and close for The Bloody Beetroots
