Mal Blum

Mal Blum is an American songwriter and performer from New York who has released five albums. The most recent, "Tempest In A Teacup," released in May 2013, is a collection of nine songs Baeble Music noted as "refreshing to explore" because of their "simple sincerity.". Critics often remark on Blum's strength as a lyricist ("like many songwriters of her caliber, Blum's strength lies in her words") ("a very strong writer, who knows how to convey insights in jaw-dropping ways.") Blum tours constantly and spent 2010-2012 on tour promoting "Every Time You Go Somewhere." sometimes joined by Simon LittleJohn on banjo and harmonica. In addition to headlining performances, Mal has supported Melissa Ferrick, Jenny Owen Youngs, Amanda Palmer, Jeffrey Lewis, Kimya Dawson, Bitch (performer), Hamell on Trial and other national artists. Mal Blum is a SUNY Purchase Alumnus. Blum's music has been featured on MTV LOGO's The Click List, where her first music video was voted a "Top Ten of 2009" and NewNowNext Music, where her second music video premiered in 2011 It also appeared in a national ad campaign for the clothing company Free People featuring Danish model Freja Beha Erichsen in 2012 Mal Blum has appeared on The Chris Gethard Show multiple times. She has never been signed to a record label and fan-funded her last album.
