Battleshy Youths
Battleshy Youths
A rock-influenced folk band with aspiration and zest." Formed in the fall of 2008, Battleshy Youths was created in Newark, Delaware by Danny Hill and Michael Natrin. They began to play cover tunes of the folk-rock persuasion, and swiftly bonded to start performing together at various Delaware open mic nights and coffee houses. Hill's traditional training on multiple stringed instruments and Natri...n's growing song-writing skills meshed well together.
New Sweden
New Sweden
New Sweden, formed in late 2009, is a five piece band residing in northern Delaware. The band plays a meshed style of indie, folk, and americana. Fans of The Avett Bros, Bright Eyes, and the Low Anthem are sure to find an interest with New Sweden.

Members of the band are Caroline Stratton, Dan Weirauch, William Dobies, James Dukenfield, and Zac Dukenfield, ranging in age from early 20's to 30. They combine guitar, bass, organ, banjo, mandolin, viola, percussion, and anything else they can get their hands on to form their sound.

The group consists of a nuclear fuel designer, an oceanographer, and good old blue collar American boys who march to the theory that "the whole is greater than the sum of its parts" (Aristotle). With their diversity, the band creates heartfelt music with meaningful lyrics that make you ponder happiness, sadness, or even luckiness to be where you are in this crazy and unpredictable world. Simply put, they are dedicated to the power of the song. Music makes the world go round, and they write the soundtrack.

The band's goal is to perform as much as possible! In this day and age, you never know where tomorrow will take you. "On a ship, we shall sail..." New Sweden is highly motivated to get their songs heard, and they will stop at nothing. Look for them to perform on a stage near you.
The Northeast
The Northeast
Formed in the spring of 2011. The Northeast marks a return to making music for the members of this Americana group. Now older and wiser, they are getting back to the basics. Striving to create heartfelt music that can be enjoyed by anyone and everyone.
Black Horse Motel
Black Horse Motel
Part of a new swath of young artists emerging in the Philadelphia
...folk scene, Black Horse Motel features four musicians, erratum, four
diligent worker bees, drawing on rich traditions in western and
eastern folk music to create (hopefully) warming, accessible and
fervent songs. It remains to be seen what the future holds for these
four hopeful troubadours, but they have certainly begun finding their
voice.

Springtime 2010, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. After several lineup
changes and countless auditions, the right combination of people came
together to form Black Horse Motel as it stands today. Although only
together for a few months, the band has engineered a sound that
reflects a natural familiarity between musicians who have played
together much longer. They sing, they dance, they blend their
respective instruments and creative voices into a single, cohesive and
cogent concoction.
