JENNY OWEN YOUNGS (TRIO)

When is the last time you picked up a brand new album and listened to it from start to finish (and back to the start again), the way it was intended to be heard? You'll want to do that with Jenny Owen Youngs' "Transmitter Failure." Following fresh in the tracks of her 2007 debut, Jenny clearly delights in never letting the listener tune out, as slow-and-sweet ballads are immediately followed by infectious rock/pop gems. Featuring Youngs' lilting doo-wop croon coupled with slow, wailing strings and a waltzing rhythm, reminiscent of a page from Richard Hawley's songbook, homage is paid to both the musical past and the richly orchestrated present. As the title implies, "Transmitter Failure" hums with the notion of contradiction.
LITTLE HURRICANE

Based in Southern California, little hurricane is a dirty blues/rock outfit born by way of North Park, San Diego. The band was formed in early 2010 when guitarist Tone met drummer CC thru an ad on Craigslist. Oddly enough they both lived on the same street and had a similar background in jazz band. They found a common interest in unique and vintage equipment and a love of grimey, down and dirty blues. An old nightstand transformed into a speaker cabinet, vintage lamps, and ratty suitcases turned instruments are just a few of the things you can expect to grace the stage alongside little hurricane. The band released their debut album HOMEWRECKER, in April of 2011,which was quickly followed by national radio play. A mere few months after the release or their self-produced album, little hurrican rocked the festival scene.with explosive performances at Lollapalooza and Austin City Limits. The band is currently touring the west coast, with plans of recording and touring extensively in 2012.
