Houston Metropolitan Dance Company
Houston Metropolitan Dance Company
Breathtaking, awesome and inspiring, these are but a few of the comments Houston audiences have said about an evening with the Houston Metropolitan Dance Company. Since 1995, the company has presented 15 Seasons of contemporary dance that explodes in movement, color and emotion. The company mixes the most edgy styles of dance and music with the classical into a kaleidoscope of energy all audiences enjoy. Seasoned choreographers such as Robert Battle, Salim Gauwloos and Kate Skarpetowska alongside new, young artists like Jason McDole and Joe Celej enjoy working with this strong and versatile company creating works that dance aficionados of all levels love to watch.
Cuadro La Tempestad Flamenco
Cuadro La Tempestad Flamenco
In contrast to today's highly choreographed and much rehearsed flamenco, Cuadro La Tempestad treats audiences to the experience of creativity in the moment. This dynamic group of flamenco artists convey all the spontaneity and intensity of a genuine gypsy "juerga".

Cuadro La Tempestad presents the age-old traditions of flamenco with unparalleled authenticity. With fiery and explosive dancing, no-frills "jondo" singing and passionate guitar playing, the Cuadro allows audiences to experience the dark and unique essence of true "duende".

In its first year, Cuadro La Tempestad has enjoyed such accolades & recognition such as a Certificate of Appreciation from the Mayor for its performances at IFest, appearances at the Bayou City Arts Festival, headliners at Houston Press' Artopia, special invitation to perform at the 2009 Consular Ball honoring the Kingdom of Spain, & a special appearance on Great Day Houston with Debra Duncan.
Talento Bilingue de Houston
Talento Bilingue de Houston
Founded in 1977 as a small troupe known as "Teatro Bilingüe de Houston" (Bilingual Theater of Houston), this non-profit organization has evolved into a Latino Cultural Arts Center that offers a year-round series of performing arts and exhibits, alongside educational programming such as ongoing multidisciplinary workshops, a summer arts camp for children, and school touring productions.

This year our unprecedented partnerships with the Houston Grand Opera and Opera in the Heights expand cultural programming and expose our audiences to world-class talent.

Now in its second phase, Planeta Verde Now (PVN), TBH's groundbreaking green initiative, contines to foster environmental values and sustainable practices through artistic expression and creativity. Alliances with Discovery Green, and the Miller Outdoor Theatre help strengthen our commitment to bring environmental awareness and fuel hope in our community.

Talento Bilingüe de Houston is nestled adjacent to Guadalupe Plaza Park and Buffalo Bayou; the center is located in the East End, less than a mile from downtown Houston, the renovated building is a beautiful 18,000 square foot facility leased from the City of Houston Convention and Entertainment Facilities Department. The facility has a 240-seat theater, professional dance studio, rehearsal room, a gallery space, commercial kitchen and administrative offices. The facility was redeveloped with a $992,000 Community Development Block Grant through the City of Houston Housing and Community Development Department in 1996.

In 2002, the Board of Directors adopted a business plan prepared for the Cultural Arts Council of Houston and Harris County (CACHH) that targeted Talento Bilingüe de Houston as the appropriate agency in the City of Houston to develop itself further as a Latino Cultural Arts Center. The business plan succeeds by expanding programs that meet the needs of a diverse and growing Latino population that live in Houston and those who visit the Greater Houston Area. The Center has become a destination venue for other multicultural organizations and international visitors.
Folk Family Revival
Folk Family Revival
Mason, Barrett and Lincoln Lankford became fast friends with Caleb Pace when the then pre-teens stood up for him in a squabble at church. If you ask them now, the band is made up of four brothers. A bond that transcends musical barriers formed early in the lives of the brothers long before they’d ever step foot in a recording studio. Not yet old enough to drive and still without a formal band title, the foursome realized in each other a shared love of music, and they quickly began exploring sounds and instrumentation. The band grew as a unit under several names and through varying incarnations of style and lineup. Seemingly the only constant was the four brothers and their love for one another and music.

After several years of experimentation and self-instruction, the chemistry between the players (now in their early twenties) was undeniable, and they found themselves at Red Tree Recording Studios with producer Jeffery Armstreet. Although they were set to put down tracks that took on a more hard rock vibe, Mason, without provocation, shared one of their folksier, country songs. Armstreet immediately recognized the talent at hand, and later sought out their other demos of this unique style.

A couple years later, the Folk Family Revival is debuting their first full-length album, Unfolding, on Magnolia Red. Mason leads the band on vocals and guitar, but also plays harmonica, jaw harp, and a theramin if he ever finds one. Barrett has made the transition from guitar to bass, and Caleb can be found on electric guitar, mandolin, and lap-steel. Lincoln takes on drums and percussion, and the whole band is constantly embracing new instruments and methods.

The band has played live on Houston’s Fox26 and KPFT 90.1 in addition to opening for artists like Charlie Robison, Cody Canada & the Departed, Robert Ellis, The Marshall Tucker Band, Rodney Atkins and the Trishas. Their current musical influences are still eclectic and evolving and include The Black Keys, Switchfoot, Hayes Carll, Waylon Jennings, Willie Nelson, Ryan Bingham and the Dylans (both Jakob and Bob).

Their inimitable sound has been described as Americana-folk-country music, and yet, it is still developing and changing. Mason spearheads the songwriting, but the relationship and inspiration of every member of the band is evident in the results. While individual players alternate taking the spotlight in certain songs, the performance as a whole would not be what it is without the dedicated collaboration that unites the foursome.

Unfolding, which debuted July 12, 2011, was produced and mixed by Jeffery Armstreet at Red Tree Recording Studio in Magnolia, Texas. The album also features the instrumental prowess of Scott Davis who also produces albums when not on tour playing lead for Hayes Carll. The record was mastered by Grammy-winning engineer Gavin Lurssen.

When you have a tight knit group of family and friends that spend most days at each others houses, cooking and swapping vinyl, you call yourself blessed. When most of these people play in really good bands and realize they should probably be in a band together, you call yourself Finnegan.

Finnegan truly is a family band. Darin (Bass and Keys) and Taylor (Guitar and Vocals) are brothers who found themselves with a handful of songs that didn't necessarily fit into the sound of any other groups they were a part of (Literary Greats, Lazlo).

At the time, Taylor happened to be producing a record for an amazing folk/americana singer, Sara Van Buskirk. Sara (Vocals and Acoustic) showed some of the Finnegan demos to her band mate Val Young (Cello and Perc) and the recording of "What Happened to Jacqueline?" began.

Along the way Darin's wife, Ginny Lee (Flautist and Vocals) and long time friend/multi-instrumentalist Russ Willis (Drums) balanced out the lineup to make Finnegan a 3 guys and 3 girls rock n roll band.

If you like good solid song writing about the ups and downs of relationships portrayed through strong harmonies with a semi orchestral feel, you will love this band.

In the short time they have been together playing regionally, they obtained a large fan base in Austin, Houston, San Antonio and Ft. Worth. Even landing a spot on the bill for Free Press Summer Fest (Houston) headlined by Weezer and Big Boi, and a slew of shows during SXSW (Austin).

Finnegan has also been lucky enough to develop a great relationship with Tinderbox Music, who represents them in the Radio and Licensing world. They are currently looking for representation in Booking and Management.

It's a good time to be a Houstonian interested in music. The city is bubbling over with bands that absolutely deserve more than the $4 they're asking you to pay to see them perform. It's lots of fun.
Kyle Berg
Kyle Berg
Born the son of a jazz pianist and a dance instructor, Kyle has been immersed in music and the arts his whole life. From the time he could walk, he spent the majority of his spare time in the recording studio with his father (while recording albums or writing and recording advertising jingles) or hanging around the dance studio with his mother and sisters. He took piano lessons, played the drums and took up alto saxophone all before he was in Junior High School.

Kyle was first attracted to DJ-ing in elementary school when he was a competitive speed skater at the local skating rink in Houston, Texas. When his family relocated to Los Angeles, Kyle was exposed to a completely new kind of DJ, and his identity really began to take shape. The rave scene in LA throughout the early to mid 90’s exposed Kyle to many different styles of DJ-ing and genres of dance music. Tinkering with all of them, Kyle predominantly played breaks and studied Turntablism. Throughout his teens, Kyle organized and promoted, engineered sound and designed productions for and DJ’d rave shows and music festivals in LA. All of this before he was old enough to vote.

At the age of 18, Kyle took a job working for a family manufacturing business and relocated back to Houston to work with and study under his uncle. Throughout his 10 years with that company, Kyle continued to DJ, organize, promote, engineer sound and design productions for rave shows and music festivals throughout Texas and the Southwest United States. As that scene died down in the early 2000’s, Kyle began to shift his focus to DJ-ing in nightclubs and has since held residencies at seemingly every popular nightclub in Houston.

In 2007, Kyle left the manufacturing company to solely focus on his music and DJ career. He adopted an open format style of mixing, which allows him to tap-in to his deep well of musical knowledge and experiences. When at an event where Kyle is performing, you never know what to expect. His history and exposure to so many different styles of music allows him to take risks and blend musical genres together that other DJ’s won’t go near, but it works! Throughout this process Kyle has held a residency at the worldwide Pangaea Nightclubs and become the go-to DJ for special events around Texas ranging from private promotions for liquor companies to giant productions for Red Bull North America. Kyle continues to hold residencies at the hottest nightclubs in Houston and was recently honored by becoming the newest member of the world-famous Boothpimps.
