"Thriving in the rich performance art culture of Portland, OR is Chelsea Unicorn, Lucia Luna & ClickAttack's music project Unicorn Domination. The trio weaves a soundscape of fat electronic beats spliced with melodic hooks. Witch-cackle echoes whip and swell through their live performance, painting dark empathic dreamscapes. Their debut album STATUS released February 2012 is reminiscent of a crispy bowl of skittles and glitter. They just released their second full length album "Drala" which pumps a much darker underbelly of sound compared to STATUS."
Yeah Great Fine
Yeah Great Fine. Something we all say when we just don't care. Perhaps a dig on the general malaise of our generation (ourselves included). Mostly, an ironically spiritless label for a band that is anything but. Yeah Great Fine was born, like many bands, of a shared practice space and newly found free time, but also of a desire to create something new and vital.
We've all played in several bands and have seen countless others, and too often we walk away thinking, "I've heard that before". It's trite, but we want to make music that simply didn't exist yet; to share with audiences the sheer joy that we feel when we discover something completely unique.
Our influences are many: the lush vocal harmonies of the Beach Boys, the heavily layered approach of bands like Battles and Maps & Atlases, the pulsing groove of Ratatat, and the dense polymeter of traditional West African rhythms.
Most of the band has spent time in Jared Mees & Grown Children, so early on we were taken under the wing of Jared Mees, who also owns Tender Loving Empire (Typhoon, Y La Bamba, Finn Riggins) and he has been an indispensable resource for us.
We released our self-titled debut album in November of 2010 to exceptionally positive national and international acclaim, and are about to release the "Circadian EP", a 4-song 7" being released through our friends in San Francisco, 20 Sided Records.
Known for our energetic and infectious live shows, we made a name for ourselves in the local Portland scene playing any party we could. Since then we have built our way up to playing some of Portland's most respected venues (Doug Fir Lounge, Mississippi Studios, Wonder Ballroom). We've shared the stage with national acts such as the Walkmen, Typhoon, Free Energy, as well as beloved West Coast bands such as Finn Riggins, and Tartufi. We've played innumerable shows in Portland (including the two biggest local music festivals, Musicfest Northwest and PDX Pop Now!), as well as several regional tours and a full west coast tour.

Holocene and local puppetry collective Beady Little Eyes will present POP + PUPPETRY, an interdisciplinary extravaganza for the eyes and ears! 3 puppeteers of diverse styles (giant puppets, tiny puppets and shadow puppets) will be paired with 3 inventive Portland-based pop groups. Each puppeteer will present an original puppet show created especially for this event and synced to the band's music. The results should be dazzling, and help to elevate the experience of both artistic mediums when combined. We'll also be screening puppet films between acts!
