Leslie Helpert, musical artist/composer/lyricist/teacher, has performed (acoustic/electric guitars, voice) in over 300 venues worldwide, from The Lino Ventura Theater in Nice, France and Primavera Sound in Barcelona, to Yoshi's Jazz Club in San Francisco and CBGB's in NYC. Aside from her own "deconstructed", avant-garde/americana compositions, Helpert performs the musical work of Billie Holiday and other legends of Jazz internationally; she has collaborated with musicians from the UK, Europe, Africa, and the Americas. Helpert's recorded six records on various labels, lent her composition and voice to Motown, Universal, and Sundance featured Films; she's written over 1,000 lyrical songs. She is endorsed by Strathmore Papers for filling over 50 sketchbooks with illustrated lyric. Leslie Helpert was the composer-in-residence of Bermuda (2008) and awarded a resident grant by The Danish Art Council (2013). She is currently based in Europe performing and mentoring musical students. Helpert is a principal guitarist (over 20 years of playing) who was schooled at The Berklee College of Music ('97). She recently became a Taylor Guitar Signature Artist.
