Australian indie powerhouse, goodbyemotel's new single, "Set it Off" is more than just a bridge to US radio. It's a very personal mantra bound to be repeated day in and day out by the now New York based band. Known for their audience-engaging "4-D" live shows, goodbyemotel combines elements of film, music, and lighting to give their fans a Pink Floyd-esque experience for a new age.
The band racked up an impressive list of accomplishments in 2013: a worldwide tour, including a leg in Japan plus a wide array of TV and film placements (Gossip Girl, Covert Affairs, Suits, Summer Coda), all capped off with "Set it Off" being featured in Chrysler'snational advertising campaign. They are touring in support of the forthcoming album titled 'If", produced by Kevin Killen (U2, Peter Gabriel, Kate Bush) which is due out later this year.
"goodbyemotel will be your new favorite band…" -Sophia Sanchez, Halfstack Magazine
New York City-based artist, Aurora Barnes, creates fiery music that tells vivid stories of love, heartbreak, joy, struggle and human resiliency. Aurora uses intricate melodies and harmonies as a vehicle for her lyrics, painting abstract pictures with purpose. Her vocal performances demonstrate her total connection to the material – unique for a singer nowadays.
Aurora has always been fascinated by the ability of musicians to capture complex emotions and the spirit of a particular moment in history. She was raised in uptown Manhattan surrounded by passionate members of the civil rights, women’s rights, labor and anti-war movements, learning early on the importance of a lifelong commitment to political and social activism. Raised on everyone from Bob Dylan to Stephen Sondheim, Nina Simone to Bonnie Raitt, Aurora grew to understand that the words she spoke and the ones she wrote must be deliberate and meaningful.
