America's premier post-classical string quartet, ETHEL, makes its DROM debut in a one-night only performance featuring several world premiere works. Described as "indefatigable and eclectic" (The New York Times) and "vital and brilliant" (The New Yorker), ETHEL invigorates the contemporary music scene with exuberance, intensity, imaginative programming, and exceptional artistry. Founded in 1998 and based in New York City, ETHEL is comprised of Ralph Farris (viola), Dorothy Lawson (cello), Kip Jones (violin) and Tema Watstein (violin).
As part of ETHEL's HomeBaked commissioning program, ETHEL has commissioned young, innovative NYC-based composers to create new works for this concert. ETHEL's HomeBaked captures new and distinct flavors in the quartet's own artistic research kitchen. World premiere works TBD.
