The Dead Superheroes Orchestra

The Dead Superheroes Orchestra must be heard to be believed. A rock ensemble with dazzling string arrangements and a pitch-black wit, the DSO will take you on a journey from your hometown cemetery down to the depths of the Underworld, up to the cool, bare face of the moon, and back again. Dreamed up by brains steeped in Batman, Mozart, Dostoevsky and Dante, the Orchestra tells the tale of an angel and a boy who comes back from the dead.
Their performances are part rock show, part chamber recital and part goth rock oratorio. A mad caucaphony of strings, guitars, drums, piano, and choir led by a melodramatic bass vocalist, the Dead Superheroes Orchestra is a band that entertains, perplexes and entrances audiences.
The Dead Superheroes Orchestra were included in Mick Mercer’s book “Music to Die For”, published by Cherry Red Press. "I'll spend my nights in the graveyard", their first EP, is available for sale on iTunes.
My Cold Dead Hand

My Cold Dead Hand is sexy like a black eye, and only a slightly lighter shade of purple. These haggard vets of the lying whore that is the music business produce a racket that is unquestionably weighty. Rooted in the power of dynamics and crescendo, their attack wrings the drama out of every note and embraces sounds rarely exploited by peers. And a beautiful heaviness is fashioned from shards of cabaret and carnival mingling with rock roar.
We Are Hex

In the bio on their website, We Are Hex describe their sound as an amalgam of noise, dance, doom, psychedelia, 50s and 60s pop and punk. And for once, a band’s grandiose claims of musical diversity aren’t utter bullshit. They combine all of those genres into a dreamy, dark and somewhat disturbing sonic stew. The bio goes on to compare the band to The Cure, Gang of Four, P.J. Harvey and The Jesus and Mary Chain, but I feel like comparing these guys (and girl) to anyone else sells them short. To these ears, We Are Hex sounds like We Are Hex and nobody else. This album is way too good to be the self-recorded debut of a band that just started two years ago. If they can keep up this level of quality, they’ll be legends in no time. Mark my words. Actually, you know what? Fuck my words. They’re woefully inadequate. The whole album is available as an audio stream on http://www.wearehex.com. I highly recommend that you check it out if you’re at all interested in good music. I mean, it’s free! You’ve got nothing to lose!
