Annie Mac Presents with Annie Mac, Jubilee and Alex English

Annie Mac

Born and bred in Dublin to a family immersed in musicality, Annie left home at 17 to attend Queens University in Belfast, where she was bitten by the clubbing bug after visiting the city's legendary Shine club nights. Inspired to purchase her first set of decks, Annie taught herself to mix using old funk and soul records bought from local charity shops. Following a stint as part of Shine's marketing team and four months living in Manhattan, Annie made the move to London, working simultaneously as a TV and Radio plugger, a freelance Broadcasting Assistant and a presenter for the SBN, before she approached Radio 1. Initially employed as a BA, her natural flair got her noticed by management and she was soon standing in for Mary Anne Hobbs.
Annie's show on Radio 1 began in July 2004, when, working as an assistant producer on Zane Lowe's show, she impressed Radio 1 bosses with her demos and her determination.
Since then her show has gone from strength to strength. Annie Mac's show on Friday nights on Radio 1 has attracted a host of loyal followers from around the world and sees her play the cutting-edge dance music which she has become known for. Annie has established herself firmly as part of Radio 1's specialist output.
Annie is also a talented club DJ and is booked regularly to play the UKs most credible clubs. Annie has just completed her annual DJ tour 'Annie Mac Presents' which she has hosted for 3 years running. Annie personally chooses the line-up of DJs for her tour, both established and up-and-coming to play in her favourite clubs across the UK. 2009 has seen Annie DJ at more festivals than ever, plus regular dates in Ibiza and around the world.

Everyone loves Jubilee. How could they not? The girl is full of positive vibes, from her bubbly DJ sets to her smiley demeanor. She's long been known as "Brooklyn's bass sweetheart," but she's also an ace DJ, one who can capably move between upfront bass music, sweaty tropical jams, party rap, UK grime, house, techno, R&B, dancehall, and more.

Stylistically, Jubilee may be hard to pin down, but she's always been a girl on the move, both literally and figuratively. Growing up in South Florida, she immersed herself in the region's rave culture, dancing the night away at underground breaks parties while spending her days soaking up Miami bass on the radio. Eventually she made the move to NYC, where she quickly infiltrated the DJ circuit with her sticky grooves and comprehensive knowledge of all things bass.

These days, she's still a regular behind the decks at various clubs and warehouse parties around the globe, but she also teams up with Mixpak label boss and serious badman Dre Skull to put on a banging party of their own called Mixpak Extended Play. Beyond that, she's even managed to take her talents to the airwaves, hosting her own weekly show called Fireworks on Brooklyn Radio in addition to Mixpak's new show on Radio Lily.

As if she wasn't busy enough already, Jubilee has somehow found the time to steadily increase her workload as a producer. Last year saw the release of her "Pop It!" EP via Mixpak Records, she dropped a collaborative record with frequent partner in-crime Star Eyes earlier in the year via the white-hot Unknown to the Unknown imprint, and just recently put out a collab with long time friend Burt Fox on Trouble and Bass called "Keys Wallet Phone". Throw in remixes of Canblaster, Hydraulix, Creep, and Zuzuka Poderosa, and it's easy to say the Jubilee is quickly becoming a go-to producer, particularly when artists need to inject their tunes with some infectious energy and dancefloor flavor.

Much like X-Men character from whom she takes her name, Jubilee has got fireworks up her sleeve. We're just lucky that she's elected to use her powers for the good of dance parties everywhere.
