Bonnie Hayes Band

Bonnie Hayes

Even if you don't think you know who Bonnie Hayes is, chances are, you've either heard & love some of her work, or even own it in your recorded music collection.

Spurred by 2 Hayes-penned singles, "Love Letter" & "Have a Heart", singer Bonnie Raitt's 1989 "Nick of Time" album sold multiple millions of copies worldwide, & earned Ms. Raitt numerous Grammy awards, including Record of the Year for 1990.

This occurred long after Hayes had already captained legendary pioneering San Francisco proto-punkers, Bonnie Hayes & the Wild Combo, through years of ceaseless recording & touring, opening for the likes of Huey Lewis & the News, & landing a couple choice songs on Nicolas Cage's debut feature film, "Valley Girl" (the BH&TWC chestnut, "Girls Like Me" plays prominently through the opening credits).

Artists as varied as Bette Midler, Robert Cray, Adam Ant, the Bangles' Susanna Hoffs, & Cher (yes, that Cher) have recorded songs composed by Bonnie. Her skills at keyboard landed her on national & world tours backing the likes of Billy Idol & the GoGo's Belinda Carlisle.

In recent years, Bonnie has become a widely sought-after producer (guitar-slinger/blues-belter Tommy Castro's soon-to-be-released new album is a Bonnie Hayes production). A highly-lauded musical instructor for over 30 years with the well-respected Blue Bear School of Music, she also a relentless giggin' fool, playing out as often as 7 nights a week in band after band, including 3 years rocking as keyboardist/vocalist for another guitar-ace, Danny Click & his Hell Yeahs.

Recently Bonnie's fortunes, job-description & place of residence have undergone sizable change as Boston's prestigious Berklee College of Music selected her from dozens of worthy candidates to become the Chair of their Songwriting Department--hence her new title, Professor BonBon.

It has now become a rarity to see Bonnie performing in public, in California, or anywhere, as her new position as administrator/educator is beyond mere full-time and it's on the East Coast!

In fact, the last time anyone witnessed Bonnie holding forth in a concert hall, playing her own compositions was way back in April of 2012. So this show may be our last chance to see these jewels performed by their illustrious composer for quite some time.

Bonnie will be joined by her long-time crack band, the Super BonBons: Brother & Wild Combo original member Kevin Hayes on drums, Darryl C. Anders on bass, Erik Schrammon guitar,
Vicki Randle on percussion & vocals, & of course, Bonnie herself manning keyboards, guitar & vocals.

As so many of Marin's finest stalwart musicians love to play with Bon, we can only guess who may show up & attempt to "sabotage her set", knowing it may be their only chance to do so for quite some time. This will be a must-see-evening of quality music no self-respecting Bonnie Hayes fan will wish to miss--bragging rights come at no extra charge! This show will sell-out well in advance!
