Newark's favorite prodigal son Reggie Noble, aka platinum-selling Def Jam Recordings artist Redman, shows off a different side of his musical persona with the release of his 7th solo album, REGGIE.

Redman exploded on to the hip-hop scene in 1992 when he released his debut album, Whut? Thee Album . That gold album was followed up with the gold-plus, critically acclaimed releases Dare Iz a Darkside .(1994), Muddy Water (1996),Doc's da Name 2000 (1998), El Nino with Def Squad (Keith Murray and Erick Sermon in 1998) , Malpractice (2001) and Red Gone Wild (2007).

Evidence

One third of the influential L.A. hip-hop group Dilated Peoples, Evidence was born Michael Perretta in Los Angeles, relocating from Santa Monica to Venice Beach with his mother when he was six, after his parents' divorce. Though Evidence was heavily into skating and graffiti growing up, it wasn't until he was 12, and he moved next door to QDIII (Quincy Jones's son), where he was able to see firsthand how beats were made and what it took to be a top-quality producer, that he began to be more interested in seriously pursuing music. Hooking up with MC Rakaa in 1992, the duo released a few singles as Dilated Peoples (their first beats courtesy of QDIII) before adding DJ Babu in 1998. The group issued four albums (The Platform, Expansion Team, Neighborhood Watch, 20/20) on Capitol before splitting from them in 2006 and joining ABB. It was to that same label that Evidence turned for his solo album. Titled The Weatherman (a nickname a fan had given him early in his career), the record, something he had wanted to make since 2001 but had been unable to because of the contract with Capitol, was released in March 2007, and featured production from Evidence himself, Jake One, the Alchemist, and Babu, among others, and was followed by Red Tape Instrumentals, an album of beats, a few months later.

Freestyle Fellowship

Freestyle Fellowship are a rap group from Los Angeles consisting of rappers Aceyalone, Myka 9, P.E.A.C.E., Self Jupiter and producer J Sumbi. Their vocal techniques focusing on the method of the freestyle, as well as a successful infusion of hip hop and jazz, established the group as forerunners in the sub-genre of jazz rap, and also placed them amongst prominent West Coast underground hip hop acts of the early 1990s like Hieroglyphics, Abstract Rude & Tribe Unique, and The Pharcyde[1]. They are part of a hip hop collective known as Project Blowed

Medusa

"In one of the rooms in the hip-hop culture house engraved on the walls" Is a live account of the 1 Super Soul Sista, who has the blessing to be dubbed "the Angela Davis of hip-hop". Starting off MCing as a 16- year old pop-locker, Medusa continues to cultivate hip-hop seeds across the country in unprecedented numbers. The love of hip-hop encouraged her to follow higher callings than her knowing. Pop-lockin with the Groove-Atrons gave her talents a platform to win the Beset Female Dancer in the 1st Hip Hop Dance Awards at The Paladium. "Medusa has been compared to a medley of amazing artist" Including, Gil-Scott Heron for their ways of expressing the revolutionary state of mind, Chuck D. (imagine a female Chuck D.), Lauren Hill for having the ability to posses an international talent in the voice world and like the Game, who's a versatile heavy hitter on speaking his life's truth's, Medusa gives you the key to real truth and allows you to feel it and even though the comparisons could go on, Medusa is on a Goddess list of her own. You will find no other who will bring it to you like this, someone's music that makes you feel strong, proud, and encourages with the manner of ONE Love. "Coming up in the LA scene, she honed her skills" At the Good Life café and Leimert Park's "Project Blowed" Workshop, around Freestyle Fellowship, Black Eye Peas, Macy Grey, and Xzibit, being the first in the LA hip hop scene with a live band. After blessing her already growing fans with her EP, "Do It The Way You Feel It", Medusa gained an even stronger fan base overseas, in the country, on college campuses across the nation, and has virtually become a guru to the underground hip-hop scene and artistic community. Binary Star is back to change the game once again. The duo of emcees One Be Lo and Senim Silla possess a lethal chemistry greater than the sum of its parts. Trading verses effortlessly, the two can create magic on the mic ranging from intricate storytelling to battle raps. Hailing from Pontiac, Michigan - Lo and Senim originally met in high school and instantly developed a close friendship. However one poor decision that could have easily derailed their career, made the bond between them stronger and more focused. An armed robbery conviction landed them both in prison for a three-year sentence and during this time Binary Star officially came into existence in 1995. Upon their release, Lo and Senim had grown more mature, focused, and immediately began recording what would evolve into M.O.T.U. and the classic song "Reality Check." Binary also had plenty of beats waiting from longtime friend Decompoze who would co-produce a majority of the album. After initially pressing up CD, vinyl, and tape copies - the Binary Star buzz earned the group a distribution deal that would convert music listeners into loyal fans with the release of M.O.T.U. in 2000. It went on to sell over 25,000 units and showed the viability of independent hip-hop during a time when major labels had begun the commercialization of rap music. Shortly after recording the M.O.T.U. album, the two parted ways claiming creative differences. One Be Lo developed his own solo career by rocking shows across the country. In 2005 his solo debut S.O.N.O.G.R.A.M. moved over 22,000 units on Fat Beats. Lo also kept fans happy with several releases on his own Subterraneous Records: Fetus, Stillborn, and Rebirth. This has set the foundation nicely for the highly anticipated B.A.B.Y. with a February 2009 release date on Myx Music Label. Recently reuniting after a 10-year hiatus, Binary Star is back in the studio working on its long awaited follow-up to the classic debut album Masters Of The Universe (M.O.T.U.). Tentatively titled "Light Years Apart," the duo's EP serves as a mere prequel to a full-length LP. ..

The Chicharones

Impossible! Flying pigs fill the sky. Cheap tequila is swilled in bars and discos around the globe in celebration. The Chicharones, composed of Sleep of Oldominion and Josh Martinez, have kept fans, tour action, sales, and respect during a 3 year group hiatus, between solo releases. Since releasing their last album When Pigs Fly (Camobear Records 2006), they have toured the world ten times over, collaborated with the who's who of underground pop, released solo albums and become international celebrities. Back together, after a messy break up, the bromance is on and popping and at long last, the great Chicharones have returned!

Much has happened in the three years since their last release "When Pigs Fly".

Josh Martinez has been on the moustache ride of his life. Never easy to categorize, The People's Champ is one of the most diverse artists in the music game, surpassing the limitations of indie hip hop by pursuing an "innovative and entirely unique hybrid of clever pop melodies and intelligent, layered songwriting that borrows from everywhere and sounds like nothing else." (Spin) Having sold 100,000 copies of his ten album body of work, "Martinez brand of music is instantly identifiable and entirely unique." Ð (Exclaim) Coming off a life and death battle with life and death, Martinez has produced a musical masterpiece called The World Famous Sex Buffet (Camobear Records 2008), starring Devin The Dude, Classified, Mother Mother, Moka Only and Pigeon John. With 5 videos, a radio and press campaign, and chart topping successes in Canada, France and Japan, finally, the world is spreading its legs for the People's Champ.

Sleep, bottomless coffee mug in hand, has not slept in months to produce his Sage Francis-infused, return-to-darkness opus, Hesitation Wounds. With Sleep's Christopher (Up Above Records 2007) selling in excess of 25,000 copies, Sleep has carved himself a special place in the minds of hip hoppers who want their music with heart. After a breakout project with reggae legend Zelly Rock, Combination Locked (Camobear Records 2008), Sleep has gone all out and produced a masterful opus, written with his characteristically brilliant cadences, sweetheart rhymes and every man observations over blazing future music soundscapes. His new album Hesitation Wounds will be released by Strange Famous Records in spring 2009 and will bring Sleep a whole new level of exposure.

The Chicharones have toured the world together, solo and with live bands, and learned countless new tricks along the road. From Sleep's magic tricks and quick change routines, to Martinez's beer balancing and hi kicking Elvis dance moves, they are taking over the world with their insanely energetic live shows. A bash your brains, get drunk, cheer, scream and throw your self against the wall fun, a Chicharones show is a need-to-be-seen-to-be-believed extravaganza. Never asking the audience to make noise, nor demand a crowd's hands in the air, these fake-mustachioed amigos use comedy, high kicks, pitch-perfect harmonies and costume changes to leave audiences in an ecstatic Beatles-esque furor. These banditos have become hip hop legends by converting every crowd from awkward rangy newbies, into diehard fans.

Swine Country, a brand new EP of legendary songs, is a definitive statement of explosive growth for a duo at the absolute peak of their creative powers. These are songs inspired by James Dean, heist movies, broken hearts and sweet, sweet revenge. They are also part of the larger, genre-bending hip hop musical Sow Side Story, a hip hop musical, more greasy than Grease, more graceful than your grandmother, slated for summer 09 release. Swine Country is host to doo wop harmonies, adult-rated Dr. Seuss rhymes and the incredible interplay between two of rap's finest, most accomplished artists. Swine Country is Pharcyde meets Dick Dale, Kurt Kobain meets Frankie Lymon. It's fedora wearing hip hop music with the swagger of rebellion, and all the tenderness of a mother's touch. Get down and dirty. You'll thanks us for it later.

Quotes

'Josh's insightful, socially-aware lyrics and evocative voice, paired with Sleep's mastery of complex rhyme schemes and rapid fire delivery, brings a forward thinking album, ready to break through musical barriers' - Exclaim
