A unique intimate apparel brand that promotes confidence and self-expression. Made in San Francisco.
Founded in 2012 by Marin Camille and Julia Zolinsky, Blackbird Underpinnings is a different kind of intimate apparel company -- one that celebrates the unique beauty of every woman by promoting self-expression and authenticity.
Inspired by the daring flappers of the roaring twenties and the fierce, able ladies of the tumultuous thirties, Blackbird Underpinnings brings you locally crafted intimates with a touch of the renegade feminine. We hope that these sumptuous garments will inspire fervent expressions of confidence and poise—a reminder that the simple act of dressing oneself is at once creative and revolutionary.
Blackbird Underpinnings will launch its first collection in 2014, selling exclusively online and at special pop-up events. Blackbird Underpinnings’ intimates have been featured on the runway in partnership with Artful Gentleman - Made-to-Measure Fine Clothing for All, and at the Pür Spirits launch party for Pür in Spirit - Cocktail Cult.
Blackbird Underpinnings, a new Oakland-based intimate apparel and loungewear company invites you to a swanky soiree on Sunday, November 17, 2013 from 6-10 pm at The New Parish in Oakland. The company will be celebrating its debut line, the MAVEN Collection, and toasting the final stretch of its Kickstarter campaign to fund production with a local sewing manufacturer. The line will be produced in San Francisco, as supporting the local economy and apparel industry is a key part of Blackbird Underpinnings’ mission.
The November 17 event will feature Jeffrey Boozer spinning vintage vinyl, a saucy dance performance by vaudevillian trio My Honey Midnight, a free book giveaway by Libros Libres Oakland, and enticing raffle prizes.
