DAVI (David Khanjian)
Hailed as “LA's best kept secret”, David “DAVI” Khanjian Internationally acclaimed DJ, producer, radio host, and label owner grew up surrounded by the sounds of Pink Floyd and Led Zeppelin. Deeply passionate about music since childhood, it didn't take long before he was admitted to the prestigious Komitas State Conservatory's music department in Yerevan, Armenia. But it wasn't until his move to Los Angeles that the magic truly began to unfold.
Finding himself at a young ripe age of 20, he began producing electronic dance music, inspired by many world class producers and Djs that frequent the best LA clubs. Having already been the resident of the top electronic music club in Armenia and a trained musician, it was only matter of time that the heavyweights of the industry began to take notice. In a matter of just a few short months, guys like Damian Lazarus, Hernan Cattaneo, Jody Wisternoff and Eelke Kleijn were all supporting David's dance floor bombs.
What followed could only be described as an intense journey deep into the heart. Combining his unique groove, stabbing melodies and deep pads, DAVI locked himself in his LA studio and dedicated himself to polishing his already amazing production skills. The payoff was soon to come and what a payoff it was.
Having always been a big fan of Robert Babicz, David loved and played his music. After a chance meeting, they became really good friends. Having someone like Robert as a mentor, and even being the first person to remix Robert on his new label Babiczstyle, opened many doors for the talented LA producer. A common name in the charts and dj sets of the likes of John Digweed, Guy J, Nick Warren, 16 Bit Lolitas and Neil Quigley he also opens up for guys like Sasha, Hernan Cattaneo, James Zabiela and Art Department, Dubfire on a regular basis.
Having released a monster remix of Underworld's “Two Months Off” anthem, and having the said track played live by Jody Wisternoff at the annual Burning Man festival, with over 50,000 people in attendance. With releases on labels such as Bits & Pieces, Babiczstyle, Armada, Outside The Box, Treibstoff, Anjunadeep Hope Recordsings.
2012 was a breakthrough year by touring 1st time to South America to play in 3 cities in Argentina which was by a high demand. Destroying the dance floors in Buenos Aires, Tucuman & Mendoza. Talented Producer also found himself being the resident Dj of Insomniac, Which was awarded as Best Promoter in the IDMA. Through Insomniac DAVI has been playing numerous gigs every month sharing the decks with his favorite Djs like Richie Hawtin, Dubfre, Matador to name few..
DAVI Slowly but steadily worked on his career. As a warm-UP DJ for several headline he built in the last years a considerable fanbase on. Now no one was lower than the Crosstown Rebels Mastermind Damian Lazarus attention to DAVI. The result is an EP that will bring DAVI all probability the international breakthrough.
Hoj’s unique and eclectic blend of house and techno are bringing him to the forefront. He gets bored easily, and he doesn’t really like rules. He just likes music, and he keeps his eyes and ears wide open … deriving inspiration from anywhere and everywhere.
This openness translates directly to his performances. Hoj is able to build a unique relationship with the crowd, a dialogue in which both DJ and dance floor feed off each other. Around the world dance floors are gravitating toward him … and with that connection comes the vibe.
Hoj grew up in the underground San Francisco dance music community, getting an early education in the culture. In 1998 he hung up his sneakers and started DJ’ing. Over the years Hoj has toured across the US and abroad. He was a founding member of the Opulent Temple, the largest sound camp at the Burning Man Festival, and he returns to play there annually. He’s toured South America and has played major events at the BPM Festival in Mexico as well as the Winter Music Conference. And he has enjoyed privileged spots alongside some of the worlds greatest djs including John Digweed, Carl Cox, Lee Burridge, Steve Lawler, Hernan Cattaneo, Armin Van Buuren, and many more.
In 2008, Hoj took his San Francisco dance music roots to New York City. He has a residency with Listed Productions and has launched his own monthly in NYC called BIG. His previous residencies and affiliations with Opel Productions, Spundae, and Looq Records keep him a truly bi-coastal citizen.
On the production side, Hoj is half of The Decorators, which have releases on Looq Records. His newest production project, called “Tramp”, keeps him busy tinkering away in the studio when he’s not on the road.
Hoj has established himself and his unique style. Although he doesn’t have the attention span to conform to a specific genre, his sound is distinct. His sets are always fresh and surprising … and the vibe is always there. No rules, just music.
