April Sellers is artistic director of The April Sellers Dance Collective. She has explored women’s sexual identity (In Her Place, 2000), the cultural and personal rituals of loss (Unveiling Grace, 2003), and the vulnerability of the material body (The V Project, 2007). Her work has been performed at the Walker Art Center, Minnesota Fringe Festival, Red Eye Theater, and Bryant Lake Bowl. In 2005, The April Sellers Dance Collective was awarded an Artist Initiative grant from the Minnesota State Arts Board. Sellers’s work with choreographer Judith Howard on House of Big Love won a Sage Award for Outstanding Performance. Recently April received residency support from Djerassi Resident Artists Program, Maggie Allesee National Center for Choreography and the University of Wisconsin Milwaukee MFA Thesis/Residency Program .
Jan Elfman has hung her art in the windows of an abandoned McDonald's, installed work in a local movie theater and encouraged people to bowl with her art in a museum. Every day for 14 years she drove a small pickup truck that was adorned with more than 10,000 corks. She now drives the Holey Circle ArtCar. With a B.F.A. in sculpture from the Minneapolis College of Art and Design Jan has been a professional artist and educator since 1986 and an Arts Board roster artist since 1989. She has taught art classes at Walker Art Center and at the Science Museum of Minnesota. Jan has exhibited locally, nationally, and internationally. She is the curator of the annual ArtCar Parade in Minneapolis.
Christine Maginnis's emotionally-driven dance work references fairytales, vaudeville acts, cinema and nature. Her works have been presented by MDT, the L1 DanceLab in Budapest, The Red Eye Collaboration, Renovate, Minnesota Fringe Festival and Rhythmically Speaking. She performed with Zenon Dance Company for 25 years, toured internationally with Tim Latta, Cathy Young, Shapiro and Smith Dance and Danny Buraczeski. She has also been seen in the works of Zhauna Franks, Jim Lieberthal, DA dance, Deborah Jinza Thayer, Off Leash Area, James Sewell, Penelope Freeh and Lisa Conlin. She is a past recipient of a McKnight Fellowship for Dancers. She is elated to now be in the Ballet of the Dolls under the direction of Myron Johnson.
Melissa Birch's interdisciplinary performance theatre has been produced and reproduced throughout the Twin Cities, U.S. and internationally since her first Minneapolis performance in June 1993. Author and performer of fourteen full-length works, over 100 short performances and The Red Curtain Cabaret, Melissa is also a professional singer. She teaches voice and other live arts forms to individuals and groups. www.melissabirch.net
