Hey™: An Evening with John Early and Kate Berlant

Kate Berlant

Based in Brooklyn, Kate Berlant performs across the country and was recently profiled in the New York Times. She was named as one of Comedy Central’s Top Ten Comics to Watch in 2013 and has performed in festivals such as the New York Comedy Festival, Bridgetown Comedy Festival, San Francisco Sketchfest, and the Eugene Mirman Comedy Festival. She was recently named by Splitsider as one of the Top 10 Up-And-Coming Comedians and was named by Time Out New York as one of the “Three Comics to Watch” in 2012. She was commissioned by The Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles to make work for their online channel and just completed an international tour opening for musician Father John Misty.

John Early

John Early is a comedian who was described as "endearingly honest and absurdly funny" by the New York Times and "cute and young and blond" by the Huffington Post. He has appeared on 30 Rock, Broad City, High Maintenance, the feature Fort Tilden (SXSW Grand Jury Prize), the upcoming Wet Hot American Summer: First Day of Camp for Netflix, and in his own short films which he writes and directs. He is a writer for Season 4 of Billy on the Street. He is an Artist in Residence and Comedy Curator at Ars Nova, where he hosts the monthly variety show Showgasm. He performs his solo show Literally Me (New York Times Critics' Pick) at Joe's Pub, a live sketch show Hey™ with frequent collaborator Kate Berlant, co-hosts a weekly stand up show at Cake Shop, and has been a part of both the Riot LA and South by Southwest comedy festivals.

Hamm Samwich

Hamm Samwich is an ex-successful drag rapper and current failed drag singer-songwriter whose album debut has been delayed indefinitely to accommodate her addiction to social media. She hosts “Hamm Radio” Karaoke every Sunday at This ’N That Bar in Williamsburg Brooklyn, and a Rupaul’s Drag Race commentary podcast entitled “Race Riot." She can be seen throughout the year at Ars Nova's "Showgasm," alongside John Early, with whom she has also performed at Joe's Pub and Union Hall. She is studying Music Technology at NYU.
