Ahn Trio and Superdrive

Ahn Trio and Superdrive

Three Juilliard-trained sisters, cellist Maria, pianist Lucia, and violinist Angella are breathing new life into the piano trio literature. Ahns perform works written especially for the trio from visionary composers such as Michael Nyman, Maurice Jarre, Pat Metheny, Paul Schoenfield, Mark O’Connor, Nikolai Kapustin and Paul Chihara. The trio’s Lullaby for My Favorite Insomniac album (SONY) is a showcase of this vibrant and original music. The trio has been touring for nearly two decades and have performed in all 50 states and 30 countries. They have 6 highly acclaimed albums on major labels. Ahns were invited to perform at the first TEDWomen in 2010 and at the White House in 2011. Their other favorite places to perform include Aya Irini on the grounds of Topkapi Palace in Istanbul and Teatro Colón in Buenos Aires. This is Ahn Trio's only NYC appearance this year.

The program combines Ahn Trio's audience favorites. The Ahns will revisit Ahn Trio + superdrive's performance at the iTUNES LIVE festival in London several years ago.

Ahn Trio will perform Yuryung (ghost) written for them by Pat Metheny, Swing Shift, written for them by Kenji Bunch and "Riders on the Storm" from their Groovebox album (EMI Classics), and selections from their "Lullaby for My Favorite Insomniac" album (SONY). superdrive from Berlin will join the Ahns for some of their selections.
