Mahogany is an electric music-based multidisciplinary media ensemble currently working in Philadelphia, New York, and other locations. A combination of vocals, cello, massed guitars, pianos, melodicas, sequencers, synthesizers, samplers, tape, percussion, and other instruments makes for Mahogany's sound.
Mahogany also uses film, video, animation, cinema, graphic design, photography, typography and other realization and rendering techniques for a cumulative effect known as the 'Hypercube' - a multidimensional expression of elegiac saudade, benign monolithic dynamism, and jubilant, sensuous organic order.
After being spotted at a Joe’s Pub performance at age 17 by producer Andres Levine (Natalie Merchant, Chaka Khan, David Byrne), she was quickly signed to his label, Fun Machine.
Shortly thereafter, [Domino joined forces] with old friend, Jordan Galland, and formed DOMINO. The band recorded its EP with Mark Ronson and toured for three years with the likes of Gang of Four and Lilly Allen. The band was also featured in Lena Dunham’s Indie hit, Tiny Furniture.
After taking some time away to raise her son, Domino has returned with a body of work which has been described as, “urgent lullabies, the alchemy of turning desire into gold and sweaty transcendence”. “The Guard” was produced by Domino, Timo Ellis (Cibo Matto and The Netherlands) Jorge Elbrecht (Lansing-Dreiden and Violens) and was recorded in Williamsburg, Brooklyn.
