Magic Mouth is a rock and roll/funk band born in a basement in Portland, Oregon in 2010.
They are Stefphon Bartee-Smith on vocals/cowbell, Ana Briseno on drums, Peter Condra on guitar/vocals, and Brendan Scott on bass. They are young, electric, party butch queens.
In 2012, after a successful number of live shows and gaining press, they released a 5-song EP entitled, "Believer", and were asked to join a nationwide tour opening for GOSSIP. They have played shows with SSION, MEN and HOLCOMBE WALLER and have been featured in MAGNET MAGAZINE, VICE MAGAZINE and TOM TOM MAGAZINE.
They are currently playing shows all over the Pacific Northwest and working on multiple recording and video projects and preparing to record their first full length album.
Jeni Wren is powerful vocalist and songwriter whose originals, experimenting in funk, jazz soul and hip-hop, speak to the passion of human longing, influenced by artists including Jill Scott, Paloma Faith and Nina Simone.
Her recently released debut EP North Star, garnered positive press from the Portland Media for both the EP and her live show. The album showcases her vocals within a tapestry of sexy jazzy soul, produced by Matthew Flowers(Feist, The Visitors) and featuring strong support from many of Portland's fastest rising artists. It was released with positive critical reception, with features in the Willamette Weekly, SSG Music and Portland Pick as well as radio support on KMHD, KZME, KMUZ and Portland Radio Project.
Wren was a founding member of Shy Girls, who were voted Best New Band in Willamette Weekly's 2013 poll and has been rising within the Portland scene since the release of her EP, performing with local talents including Brownish Black, Magic Mouth and Ancient Heat as well as being a part of the 2013 Siren Nation Festival with Fault Lines and THEE Satisfaction. Keep your eyes open in 2014, with the release of her live album as well as performance throughout the NW.
