BUSINESS CASUAL DISCO
From a primordial mixture of funky grooves and thumping beats came the DJ collective known as Business Casual Disco. The trio shares a love of all things disco with a generous serving of house and deep. Driven by swirling synths and heart palpitating bass lines, each set is served with a unique touch that will get you bobbing your head then stomping your feet.
Each member brings their own taste to the collective sound and rest assured BCD is always business but couldn't keep things more casual. Think of it as the more tasteful side of music, like Playboy for your ears.
Born in Wilson, North Carolina, Pruitt Poythress moved to Wilmington in 2004. Passionate about his music, he made his start while DJing a house party, and was offered a job by the promoter of Sputnik, formerly The Penthouse, nightclub. Thus began his reign as PRUITT with a promotion to head DJ of the most popular college night in Wilmington. He has since performed at nightclubs across the UNITED STATES from North Carolina to California. From winning the largest silent disco battle in the United States in 2010, winning a Colorado-based DJ competition in 2011, to winning the EMP Audio competition held in 2012, PRUITT has performed coast to coast. He has spent some time on the west coast headlining San Francisco's 4th of July IndepenDANCE boat party aboard the "Spirit of San Francisco". He was flown to Boulder, Colorado to open for Crystal Castles and Savoy at Colorado's own EDM music festival Glowfest. He also headlined the "Road to Ultra" at the House of Blues Myrtle Beach, and has hosted many of his own events for various clothing companies. PRUITT has opened for other acts such as Wiz Khalifa, Mord Fustang, Miles Dyson, Gramatik, Hypster and DJ'ed along side of Fat Man Scoop. With an aptitude for house and electronic music, PRUITT delivers a performance that can only be explained by passion. With a big room style he transcends crowds with each song taking them to another level.
When the lights go down....
Occupying the twilight zone between deep house, nu disco, and techno, Sam Warren’s eclectic and pulsating sound pays homage to the clubs and dancefloors around the world that birthed it. His love for soulful, forward-thinking house music is steeped in an affinity for complex, haunting melodies that somersault the crowd and infect every set he plays. Barely an infant in DJ years, within 9 months Sam had already begun holding down residencies all over Washington D.C. and sharing the stage with D.C.'s house veterans. Between supporting artists like Plastic Plates, teaming up with JD Productions, and a forthcoming move to the West Coast, big things are just over the horizon.
