2012 will be a year remembered for a lot of things----world-wide unrest, wars, famine & great uncertainty. Not least of all, it will be remembered as the year Groundation built an ark. Through their musical evolution, spanning now 7 full-length studio albums and numerous side projects, Groundation has developed an international following that has brought people together from all continents, races and creeds through a shared vibration and vision. With "Building An Ark" Groundation has created a vessel by which this community can come together and weather the rough and rising seas that are to come.
"Building An Ark," like the band's previous albums before it, sets a new benchmark in not only production value, tone and power---but also in its visionary elements of blending styles and tackling heavy subject matter. Whether the outstanding solos and interplay of the players of instruments or the uplifting and complimenting vocal harmonies, Groundation pulls off the singular feat long mastered by true Roots Reggae----rough and revolutionary messages draped in appealing and soothing music. And the results speak for themselves.
Already, the Building An Ark 2012 World Tour has seen the band play to tens of thousands of fans on four continents and over twenty countries. The US segment of that tour brings Groundation back to their stomping grounds on the West Coast, as well as some very select Eact Coast dates, plus the Caribbean and Hawaii. US audiences are finally starting to catch up to their international counterparts. With the band's ever-changing set lists and extended improvisation grooves, a core "jam-band" type following hitting multiple shows in a row has sprung up from Oregon to Florida and all points in between.
Now is the chance to see the band that has changed the world of Reggae and inspired multitudes of fans the world over with their conscious, urgent & uplifting lyrics---much needed in these times of wide-spread cynicism and complacency. Groundation is "Building An Ark" and we hope you will join us.
“Don’t be a follower when you can be a leader.”
-Thrive, “Freedom of speech”
Since 2008 Santa Cruz based Pop/Rock/ Hybrid-Reggae band Thrive has been paving its path in the music world.
In October 2010 the relatively unknown band put out its album Gratitude Attitude and would shock the scene. The album would reach number four on the iTunes Reggae Charts and would start the motor for the machine that is called Thrive.
Thrive would build on its success with regional tours with front running reggae artists SOJA, Iration and Tribal Seeds, along with statewide headlining tours on their own and massive shows with other artists including Rebelution, JBoog, The Green and Katchafire.
With founders Aaron Borowitz (Lead vocals/guitar) and Kenny Rogers (lead vocals/drums) building the foundation for the band, they are now joined with seasoned saxophonist and vocalist Scott Schipper, bassist Andrew Forgy and most recently multi-instrumentalist talent Matt Masih on keyboards and vocals.
Though going through a few members in the brief history of the band, Thrive feels that they have what it takes to make some noise.
“We found the right guys so that the chemistry is there. Our music is a reflection of our shared vision of positivity” says founder Aaron Borowitz.
May 7, 2013 Thrive released its third and most anticipated album "Relentless" which debut at number three on iTunes Top Reggae Charts and number six on the Billboard Reggae Charts. The album showed a new musical maturity for Thrive, and also featured a guest appearance by Erich Rachmany (Rebelution) on the single "Just Fine".
Thrive is currently visiting its favorite regional/national venues in promotion for it while sharing their positive lyrics, precise musicianship and powerful four-part harmonies. Be sure to check out this up-and-coming group in its biggest year yet.
