100% Silk Tour!
Octo Octa is Michael Bouldry-Morrison, a Brooklyn-based house music producer.
Following the release of his debut EP Let Me See You on 100% Silk in 2011 – a release described by label head Amanda Brown (LA Vampires) as “literally one of the favorite songs ever released on either of my record labels” – he went on to produce three further releases for the label: ʻRough, Rugged, and Raw,ʼ ʻOh Love,ʼ and an eventual collaboration with Amanda Brown, the ʻLA Vampires by Octo Octaʼ release “Freedom 2K.”
His singular brand of R&B-sampling deep and emotional house music has propelled him to the forefront of a scene of house-not-house producers garnering widespread critical acclaim in both traditional electronic music and indie-minded musical circles. Having recently been selected as a participant for the 2013 Red Bull Music Academy, a European tour scheduled for spring 2013, and his new LP, Between Two Selves, coming out May 28th, 2013 on 100% Silk, Octo Octaʼs ascent is imminent.
Coyote Clean Up began as the bedroom project of Ice Cold Chrissy, an Artist, DJ, and Musician from Metro Detroit. Lo-fi conglomerates of hushed and sensuous shoegaze mentalities, trip-hop gloom, deep headphone house, left-field club leanings, breezy pop ecstasy, frozen techno, and experimental ambient excursions snowballed quickly out of control as track after track emerged. Soon CCU spread far from beyond one isolated bedroom in the Midwest to an international camp of risky DJs, warped tape bangers, dancefloor freaks, and car bumping cruisers. No rules and no regulations - just sound from and for modern times.
".... a bluesy trip through gliding deep house, one laced with wispy vocals and glimmering pads." - XLR8R
"...all moody synths, acid distortion, and rattling drums." - Dummy
"Warm and woozy club-infected jams" - Altered Zones
"Icy, distant new deep house." - Gorilla vs. Bear
"Detroit-future-murk" - Rose Quartz
Damon Palermo has been making adventurous house and disco music under the moniker Magic Touch since August 2011. In a short time the producer/DJ has amassed an impressive following and several well-received releases, kicking off with the critically-lauded 100% Silk release "I Can Feel The Heat," which was a recommended release of the week at Boomkat and made 20JazzFunkGreats Best of 2011 list. More recently he released a split 12" with close collaborator Ital.
Magic Touch live sets mix the psychedelic ethos of San Francisco with the house movements of Chicago, Detroit and smatters the whole thing with a solid nod to the UK rave underground. In demand at festivals including Sonar, Unsound and CTM, as well as a recent tour of Japan and South Korea, Magic Touch is also traveling the world DJing at places like Berlin's legendary Panorama Bar, Lux Frágil, and Dommune in Tokyo. Recently Magic Touch collaborated with Japanese producer Sapphire Slows for an EP coming out December 11th on 100% Silk.
