Antigone Rising storms into 2014 with TWO new EPs, 'Whiskey & Wine - Volume 1" and "Whiskey & Wine - Volume 2" and a founding band member on the cover of Time Magazine. When the New York based, alt-country female rockers do something, they do it big. Catapulted into the national spotlight in 2005 with a groundbreaking major label debut that landed them in the top 20 of the Billboard Heatseekers chart for an entire year, the ladies love outdoing their past accomplishments. The first EP, "Whiskey & Wine - Volume 1," featuring the singles Everything Changes, Whiskey & Wine, Call Me Crazy, Magnolia on the Breeze, Get To You, will be released March 25, 2014. The second one, "Whiskey & Wine - Volume 2," still in its production phase, is set to come out October 28, 2014.
Starting on March 25, 2014, the band will begin a never ending cycle, one song at a time, releasing a music video, followed by an acoustic or alternate mix version. The goal is to provide audiences a variety of online content from video interviews to blog posts all year long. Treating each song as a single, the band will dedicate 6 to 8 weeks on the individual promotion of each of the five songs featured on 'Whiskey & Wine Volume 1', and will keep the cycle going all through Fall when 'Whiskey & Wine Volume 2,' gets its October 28 release.
Best known for relentless touring and masterful musicianship, the band played upwards of 280 shows a year in their early days. Whether it was an open mic on a Monday night or a jam packed New York City hometown show, the ladies and their infamous Vanna White (the band's beloved 15 passenger van) eventually blazed a trail straight to arenas alongside The Rolling Stones and Aerosmith.
Founding sisters Cathy and Kristen Henderson have always had the same philosophy. Play better than the boys and make sure the fans feel like part of the family. That philosophy plus writing undeniably catchy songs has allowed this self sustained group to maintain her independence and leave an indelible mark on an industry best known for leaving girl (bands) behind.
Margaret Valentine hails from Saratoga Springs, NY. Her songwriting takes you on a journey of love and it's illusions. It has a highly personal slant, rolling through the ups and downs of relationships while always keeping a hopeful eye on the future.
Margaret first met David Malachowski when he was newly playing with Shania Twain. She was writing and playing out all around the Capital District and NYC opening for Joan Osbourne, Tonic and various others.
She reconnected with Malachowski earlier this year with a fresh batch of songs. David was excited to produce her EP and enlisted the help of the very talented Gary Burke, Graham Maby, Dan Weiss and Lorenza Ponce. The recording took place at One East Recording in NYC and was ultimately mixed and mastered to perfection by Dae Bennett. The single Love and Affection is currently getting air play on WEXT 97.7 in Albany, NY and Margaret is also being featured in a weekly segment called the Local 518 as the spotlight artist of the week.
Margaret has also been signed by the music licensing firm WacBiz who will be presenting her songs for consideration of placement in films and television.
