In dreams, the real and the surreal interweave in a dizzying dance; elements of one exist within the context of the other. Indeed, the foiling of these forces is and has always been truly fascinating, and because of the parallels they share, so too is Hunt & Chase, the debut long-player from Ontario's Megan Bonnell. Dropping Fall 2013 through Nevado Records, Hunt & Chase showcases sonic textures and lyrical themes that greatly belie her young age. The album is rooted in the real and organic – a very transparent take on subtly strummed guitar chords accompanied by a smoky, sophisticated voice; however, that core is often enveloped in a surreal, dream-like space that boldly and beautifully blurs the lines between asleep and awake – sometimes from song to song and sometimes within the same one.
Belly Fire is: William Brennan, Dan Hyde, & Will Whatley
From the Yale University dominated town of New Haven, CT, Johnny Rodgers writes beautiful, quirky songs using guitars, tuned wine glasses, electronics and a unique chamber orchestra. He is also a composer/producer, writing chamber, orchestral and choral music for concert and for films. His formative musical years were spent writing, touring and recording with his brother Steve Rodgers in the indie band Mighty Purple.
Johnny has played for the bands Ten Shekel Shirt, NYC's classical-crossover band Awry (now My Brightest Diamond), Son Lux, Faux Fix, Todd Reynolds, Arturo En El Barco and many others. He has collaborated with many talented musicians from the world of Classical and New Music. His latest full album The Aviary, was originally written and entirely scored as a live show with a 9-piece chamber orchestra featuring highly unusual elements, such as Tuned Wine Glasses and Steel Drum.
His newest material prominently features Tuned Wine Glasses, Guitars and Electronics with live loops used in unexpected ways. Johnny lives in Brooklyn, New Haven, CT and Oregon.
