Singer-songwriter & piano player, Cynthia Marie grew up playing classical music, and continued expanding her repertoire to jazz standards, original music, and eventually, folk music from around the world.
After putting together her first band, Golden Tree Story, she recorded the album "Openings", a collection of songs about love, friendship, and life - learning how to endure, understand, and relish it. It's a peek at a young person's mind, as they are experiencing the world, striking a chord between idealism and defeat, remaining hopeful.
On June 2nd, 2013, she released a new EP, “Beyond” - offering a reflection on war, a child’s journey to a new home, and hope for the future ..The EP's central track, "Orphan Moonlight," is an original song about a refugee orphan, and serves as the focal point to the music on this 5-track album. She also recorded an arrangement of "None but One", a song by one of her all-time favorite folk singers, Jean Ritchie. The lyrics are an important call to peace, describing a scene where "some do stop to help the weak, some trample on the others" and "all of them are brothers".
Her music has received support from Seattle Mayor's Office of Arts & Cultural Affairs, Jack Straw Productions, and has recently been played on KBCS & Hollow Earth radio. She enjoys performing her music throughout the Pacific Northwest, and is looking forward to an east coast tour this winter & more recording & travels in 2014.
Breedlove sponsored artist, Arsena Schroeder, is a solo-acoustic performer on a mission to evoke wonder and awe in the lives of each listener. Crafting original songs soaked in singer-songwriter, acoustic, and pop-soul genres, issues of empowerment, love, and cryptic faith are lyrically intertwined in a mix meant to free and fuel the soul.
Arsena began her journey as a singer-songwriter and instrumentalist in the Fall of 2009 and has since then performed locally, nationally, and internationally at venues such as The Evening Musein Charlotte, NC, Ebenezer's Coffeehouse in Washington, DC, Fleisher Art Memorial in Philadelphia, PA, and Ponticifia Madre Y Maestra in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. After graduating Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor's Degree in Communication Studies and Sociology, Arsena turned down a full-ride to graduate school to pursue her passion in music. She now heads up theUnplugged + Live House Concert Series, an intimate showcase of touring and local singer-songwriters in the Charlotte, NC community, and works with the international organizationRawArtists: Charlotte. Her artistic twist of cover song interpretations, impromptu/free-styled songs, and original music has sent a ripple in the independent music industry and deemed her as a true Godsend.
Her first self-produced release, The Abundantly EP, released January 1, 2013 on iTunes, Rhapsody, Amazon, Spotify, & CD Baby. Since then her vocals have been compared to the likes of Esperanza Spalding, Lauryn Hill, India Arie, Corrine Bailey Rae, & Tracy Chapman. She's been critically reviewed as, "The next Alicia Keys", "The cry from the wilderness", and a powerful vocalist to be on the lookout for. Her next release, "For My Artist Child" is scheduled to release late 2014.
