Los Angeles via London synth-pop group Lovelife announce their third EP 'Stateless', following on from successful releases with National Anthem (The Fourth Floor EP), Neon Gold Records (Your New Beloved 7" single) and a split 7" with LA band The Neighbourhood. The EP, which features lead single 'Dying To Start Again' was written, recorded and produced by the band in various locations across the USA and UK in the summer of 2013.
Coming off a successful coast-to-coast USA tour in late spring with Capital Cities, Gold Fields, and The Neighbourhood, the band have continued their busy touring schedule, which included a sold out show at Hoxton Bar and Kitchen in London, whilst finding time to write and record their latest release. The band, who's sound utilises swirling synth pads, impassioned vocals and robust, precise beats to create a blend of smooth, brooding R&B has lead them to land three Top 5 hits on the Hype Machine popular chart, including a #1.
Lovelife, aka Lee Newell (vocals), Ally Young (keyboards), Frank Colucci (drums) and Sam Jackson (guitar) spent half of 2012 in New York City, where they played a string of dates in and around the city capped by a set of breakout performances at CMJ Music Marathon, earning praise from MTV Hive, Yours Tru.ly, Noisey, Under the Radar, Entertainment Weekly, and more. The band released two self-produced EPs in 2012 (El Regreso and The Fourth Floor), the latter on UK label National Anthem (HAIM, Chvrches), receiving over 650,000 plays on SoundCloud and 40,000 downloads, and have performed with AlunaGeorge, St. Lucia, Flume and more.
'Stateless' is the natural progression for the band who's infectious hooks and slick production have drawn a legion of fans in their short existence, which is poised to grow even further after their return to the US. The band, gaining a reputation for their mellow remixes and reworks and have been commissioned by such names as Ellie Goulding, Natalia Kills, MS MR, AlunaGeorge, Imagine Dragons and The Killers.
"Lovelife are back and better than ever...a perfect blend of electro and R'n'B pop that's oh so good... you should listen right now." NYLON
"A brazen pop thumper that aches for the sunshine." NOISEY
"A slick marvel of blue-eyed nü-R&B, Lovelife has more in common with The Weekend and 80's electro-funk than anything back home across the pond."
"Glossy production into modern R&B...like a goth D'Angelo or the Neighbourhood's long lost brothers from across the Atlantic." NEON GOLD
Wunder Wunder is the creative conception of Australian music producers, Aaron Shanahan and Benjamin Plant. After many years producing and writing electronic music, the duo have given birth to a new project that adventures into their love of colourful psychedelic ‘60s and ‘70s pop.
Having spent the last two years relocated in Los Angeles, an overflow of inspiration left them with a combination of everything from soft, blissed-out dreamscapes to the hot Californian sun burn’s that will be felt with their first single ‘Coastline’.
With an amalgamation of lo-fi squelch, dreamy guitars and warping synths, Wunder Wunder is a true aural trip into the west coast sun. Through a kaleidoscope of melodies, they provide the sonic colour and boldness that most music seems to forget.
Their first single Coastline will be released in November through New York based label, Dovecote.
The three multifaceted band members of the DC aquawave/emo-pop band Misun (pronounced 'me-sun') met while working in different capacities at the Dupont Circle bar/restaurant, Science Club in 2010. At the time vocalist Misun Wojcik waitressed part-time, often sharing overlapping shifts with resident DJs William DeVon and Nacey (production). The three soon discovered a common musical bond and began writing and recording in Nacey's bedroom studio on U Street.
Tiny Hearts is a collaborative sonic emulsification between music makers Waajeed, Dede Reynolds, and Tim K. Representing origins of Detroit, Los Angeles, and Brooklyn, the group’s diverse sound reflects influence of trip hop, trap and electronic music. The trio met at a bar beneath the J-train in New York City in 2009. After rounds of cadillac margaritas, invisible hands led them to a basement studio on the south side for a late night listening session. Resulting remixes led to original mixes, and the group was formed. Voices from beyond, esoteric concepts and milkshake metrics all played a role in this groups' fruition. The result: a reflection of intention.
Waajeed, a founding member of Detroit’s Slum Village and Platinum Pied Pipers, was in a period of deep introspection when he met Brooklyn duo DEDE (Dede Reynolds, Tim K). As a key figure in the collaboration, he shapes the sonic palette now known as Tiny Hearts.
Dede Reynolds, a freethinking chanteuse, contributes her icy/pure vocal texture, creating the stark contrast to Waajeed's gritty tracks that defines the sound. Her love of French pop, vintage fashion, and Italian horror shapes theauditory and visual representations of the band.
Tim K., is a composer and producer with classical jazz training who has contributed his two cents to Les Nubians, Esthero, Dam Funk, and numerous others. His lyrics, melodies and curator’s vision bring together the extreme temperatures needed to form this unique alloy.
Tiny Hearts first debuted on Benji B's BBC radio show in late 2012. Word-of-mouth yielded further support from KCRW’s (including Garth Trinidad, Anthony Valadez and Aaron Byrd), KEXP and East Village Radio.
“Stay,” the first EP from Tiny Hearts, is the result of two years of trans-continental collaboration, studio incubation, and friendship. The four-song debut is as hard as it is soft, as Detroit as it is L.A., equally well suited for seriously getting down or not-so-seriously kicking back with a glass of something. Blog giant Pigeons & Planes featured single "Stay" as a song of the week 9.20.14. Bandcamp featured the release on their weekly podcast, and Okayplayer streamed the EP upon it's release. The trio performed and previewed the EP in an invite only Boiler Room session at LA's HVW8 gallery 9.14.13.
