Second Chance Dine & Dance for Benevolence Farm

Second Chance Dine & Dance for Benevolence Farm

Please join us as allies, neighbors, longtime proponents, and brand new friends come together for the 2nd Annual Second Chance Dine and Dance to benefit Benevolence Farm!
Since 2007, Benevolence Farm has been growing, planning, and building to reach this very moment! We are just weeks away from welcoming our first residents! Benevolence Farm is bustling in this most exciting period of advancement toward our mission: to provide transitional housing, meaningful employment, impactful education, and a world of support for 4 (and eventually 12) formerly incarcerated women on a beautiful, sustainable farm in Graham, North Carolina.
Come out to the fabulous Haw River Ballroom to celebrate our progress, learn more about why so many are so passionate about our mission, and enjoy food, drink, art, and music created and so generously offered by our amazing community. The event will be emcee'd by NC native, and now comedian and television star, David Rees! (He is just hilarious on his new show!).
Your $25 ticket includes a delectable buffet featuring local fare from talented farmers and chefs including Vimala's Curryblossom Cafe, Eco Farm, The Eddy Pub & Restaurant, Bread & Butter Bakery, Bushytail Farm, Mediterranean Deli, The Pig, Carolina Brewery, Small Potatoes Farm, Radius Pizza, High Rock Farm, Ninth Street Bakery, Angelina's Kitchen, Saxapahaw Village Farm . . . and more!
You will hear powerful stories from North Carolina women who have served time in prison as well as Past NC Poet Laureate, Joseph Bathanti, who will read from his new book of poems, CONCERTINA, which "recounts in lyrical sweep his entry into the surreal, brutal, and often terrifyingly beautiful netherworld of convicts and their keepers." And you won't want to miss the silent auction packed full of original artwork, getaways, gift certificates, and handmade goods donated by a host of talented and generous supporters.
Aerial performers will again climb silks to the ceiling of the Ballroom to the handspun music of DJ Strider! And last but certainly not least, BIG FAT GAP will end the night with some seriously fun and aweseomely bluegrass dancing music!
Dress is casual. Children are welcome.
See you there!
