The Broadway at Birdland concert series is proud to announce the return of singer/actress Christina Bianco to the historic stage, along with rocker/pianist/musical director Brad Simmons, in an evening called “The Long & The Short Of It,” on Monday, September 4 at 7pm.
She’s a little Broadway. He’s a little rock and roll. She’s 4’11”. He’s 6’2”. Together, this dynamic duo combines their differences to create musical magic. Featuring a selection of well-loved pop, Broadway and American standards, impressions and witty repartee, Christina and Brad are the yin and yang that make perfect harmony. And that’s the long and short of it!
Two-time Drama Desk Award nominated actress, singer and impressionist Christina Bianco has become a YouTube sensation with her diva impression videos. A woman of a thousand versatile voices, Christina has gained 23 million views worldwide, leading to performances on major television programs such as The Ellen Degeneres Show, The Today Show, The Queen Latifah Show and The Meredith Viera Show in the US alone.
Christina made her West End debut starring in The Menier Chocolate Factory’s hailed production of Forbidden Broadway at the Vaudeville Theatre in London. In New York, Christina recently starred Off-Broadway in The Marvelous Wonderettes. Other New York credits include the one-woman, multi-character comedy, Application Pending (Drama Desk Award Nomination), Newsical the Musical, Forbidden Broadway; Goes To Rehab (Drama Desk Award Nomination), Raffi On Broadway at the Gershwin Theatre, Tony and Tina's Wedding (Tina) and It Must Be Him. Christina originated the role of Dora in the long-running National Tour of Dora The Explorer Live, including a sold-out run at Radio City Music Hall. On television, Christina played the recurring role of Bianca on the POP TV sitcom “Impress Me,” produced by SoulPancake. She recently appeared in the Hallmark original movie series, “Signed, Sealed, Delivered” and VH1’s “I Love The 2000’s.” For the past several years, she has performed sold-out solo performances at Birdland in New York City.
Brad Simmons is a concert artist, music director, composer and teacher in New York City. He has performed alongside Tonya Pinkins, Alice Ripley, Carolee Carmello, Rebecca Luker, Donna McKechnie, Leslie Uggams, Sandi Patty and The B-52's Kate Pierson. Brad has music directed Lysistrata Jones, Mr & Mrs Fitch with John Lithgow, Me and the Girls with Alan Cumming and the musical film Hello Again with Audra McDonald, Martha Plimpton, Cheyenne Jackson and Rumer Willis. Other career highlights include Camp with Anna Kendrick and Stephen Sondheim; “The Meredith Vieira Show” with Christina Bianco; The Hippodrome with Erich Bergen; Backstage at 54 Below with Susie Mosher; leading the Junior Fellows at The Eugene O'Neill Theater Center, recently honored with The National Medal of Arts; writing A Woman Onstage, A Dickens of a Carol and A Kiss from Alexander with Stephan deGhelder; and recording beautiful music with Dean Sharenow.
The weekly Broadway at Birdland concert series takes place on the iconic stage, located at 315 West 44 Street, in the heart of Manhattan’s Theater District.
