Orb Mellon Trio
Orb Mellon’s blues mines the energy of 20th Century American roots music, particularly whiskey fueled house party delta blues. Influenced by the likes of Son House, Bukka White, Charlie Patton, and Junior Kimbrough Orb Mellon performs pure, sonically aggressive original blues, free from any quaintness or historicism, prompting one reviewer to identify Orb Mellon’s work simply as “blues in all its primeval glory.”
Jason Prince is a singer/songwriter from the New Haven area of CT. He grew up in a household steeped in music, and says "there was always music on...my heroes have always been musicians, specifically songwriters." Raised on various forms of American roots music: rock and roll, southern rock, blues, and country (and later punk rock and hardcore), the template was set for what would later become his distinctive style of American folk music. Influences can, at times, be broad, but easily narrowed down to early Bob Dylan, Townes Van Zandt, Tom Waits, Elliott Smith, Willie Nelson and Leonard Cohen. Jason is currently finishing up recording for his next record, "Love is a Storm and a Bottomless Well." A summer 2013 release can be expected.
City Streets Country Roads
CSCR is a four piece grunge folk band from New Britain CT. They are a DIY band by nature, but have been working with a producer for the past few months to release their first full length album into the jungle of internet and pressing. From the bands conception two years ago, they've been local support for Kevin Devine, The Alternate Routes, River City Extension, Langhorne Slim, and Jarrod Gorbel of the Honorary Title, as well as playing countless local shows in most every county in CT. This summer they are touring from the 19 to 26th of August spreading their final DIY release.
