Melanie Martinez is a remarkable 18-year-old artist – a stunning and provocative singer, songwriter and visual presence. Her incredibly unique and arresting performances on the most recent season of The Voice brought her to #5 in the competition, yielded 2 Top Five songs on iTunes (her covers of "Seven Nation Army" and "Too Close), and earned her 100,000 Twitter followers and 80,000 fans on Facebook. Her cover of "Toxic" also has had huge staying-power on iTunes. Now Melanie looks to release her original music to demanding fans. Her songwriting at her young age foreshadows the resonance of both Fiona Apple and Regina Spektor, and her ambition to make a commercial mark is fierce.
Kayla Kroh is a remarkable 17-year-old indie artist from York, Pennsylvania - a beautiful and soulful singer, songwriter and stunning beyond her years in performance. If you ask Kayla who inspires her indie style, her list of artists include: Miranda Lambert, Adele, Meghan Trainor, Sam Smith, Dolly Parton, Martina McBride, Carrie Underwood, We The Kings, Pentatonix, Coldplay, Jesse J, Pink, Nora Jones and the list goes on. Her ability to write her own music and take cover songs from various genres and make them her own unique acoustic style has landed her a very solid following and show schedule. While Kayla is a fulltime distinguished honor student at Central High School and dual enrolled at Penn State York, she juggles her busy performing schedule with also being involved in Senior Honors Choir, Concorde and within the theatrical department at school. She never waivers from her music, but continues to strive to make it diverse and enhanced with each show.
Kayla began taking voice and guitar lessons in August of 2010. These lessons sparked a fire that led Kayla to attempt writing her own songs. May 18, 2012, with the help of Bobby Gentilo at Right Coast Recording Studio, she got in the studio and brought the songs to life and released her E.P. entitled “On Your Own”.
While Kayla was only 12 years old at the time, her songwriting and singing abilities along with a talented group of seasoned musicians, they created a mature and polished product that belied her young age. Her music is now featured on MyRuralRadio.com, SongwritersIsland.com, iTunes, Amazon.com and CD Baby.
October 19, 2013, Kayla’s hard work and dedication to her music was awarded MyRuralRadio.com 2013 Artist of the Year. This honor was awarded to Kayla during Fall Fest Five held at Naylor’s Winery. Special thanks to Mike Males and Trampas Ferree for recognizing her unwavering commitment to her music.
