The Hot Toddies, an all-girl band from Oakland, CA mix sunny beach pop, indie rock riffs, a bottle of whiskey and a dry sense of humor. Heidi, Erin, Jessica and Sylvia are best friends who have been playing music, drinking whiskey and writing songs together since 2005. They’ve toured across the US, Canada and the UK in support of their 2 albums “Smell the Mitten” and “Get Your Heart On” out on Asian Man Records. Their latest EP will be available through the Tricycle Records catalog in Jan. of 2013.
The Tambo Rays
The Tambo Rays have strange in their veins; what started as a bedroom solo project by multi-instrumentalist SF music man Brian DaMert ripened soon after he recruited his magnetic younger sister, Sara. Her playful manner fostered a new sonic direction that has fashioned a distinct and up-beat collaboration between the spirited siblings. The two were later joined by Greg and Bob rounding them out into a chill pop quartet.
Together they have found a fresh, new and off the beaten path sound that's euphoric vibe is limitless even in the catchiest climes of their pop driven landscape.
Kill Moi is an indie-rock band based in San Francisco that was described by one local reviewer as "the Shins meet Neil Diamond at a New Orleans funeral while reading a Murakami novel and drinking too much bourbon".
Their songs weave tales of world-weary wit mixed with infectious pop melodies, rolling vintage rhythms, Graham Coxon via Wilco guitars, and a beautiful cushion of horns. Members are Ryan Lambert (vox, guitar), Andrew Burmester (lead guitar), Daniel Settle (bass), Aaron Hazen (drums), Ryan Manley (trumpet), Oz Beckers (trombone) and Laura Carpenter (trumpet), whose collective past endeavors include such acts as Elephone, Madelia, Loquat and the Audrye Sessions. Their public performances over the last year have included appearances at Bottom of the Hill, Red Devil Lounge, the California Academy of Sciences, and Milk Bar with such acts as Geographer, the Soft White Sixties, Heavenly States, and Silent Comedy. An acoustic track, "Januaries" was recently included as part of a Tricycle Records compilation. Their first full length album "Hold me, Motherfucker" is being released in early August 2011.
A San Francisco group that started in 2010, Odd Owl blend elements of indie rock, dance, world and soul music, creating a sound that's high-spirited, yet intimate and honest. From 2010 to 2011, they toured the West Coast and recorded two EPs: Fly By Night (2010) and It’s The World I Love (2011). They become a quartet in 2012 with the addition of drummer Adam Wadenius and bassist Stephen Munoz. Playing their first show as a full band, their sound took on a crackling new energy. Expect to see more of Odd Owl as they become major player in the bay area music scene.
Blaus (DJ set)
Brothers Nathan and Zach Blaustone are BLAUS. The deep house duo blends ambient dub and cosmic disco to create “Booty Haus”, a fresh boundary-pushing addition to the EDM scene. The Northern California natives, currently residing in San Francisco, released their first single “Pecan Pie” on SLiCK Records in 2012. Black + White, the much-anticipated 12-track debut album self-released in 2013, is an atmospheric anthology of songs that indulge negativity with a positive charge. Black + White is BLAUS’s journey in releasing the mundane anxieties of daily life through a bounce of faith. — Listen to BLAUS and join the Booty Haus Movement.
