As a band, Six60 originally formed in Dunedin in 2008. Inspired by the vibrant culture of soul, rock and bass heavy electronica that defined late 2000s student life down south, they began jamming out at their infamous flat, 660 Castle Street. Bedroom practices quickly became small living room concerts for friends and family, which lead them to playing flat-warming's, parties and eventually local bars.
Pressured into recording a demo EP by friends and family, they sold their music online through their website and setup some fan pages on various online social networks. As the saying goes, if you give, you get back, and as word about their high-octane live shows, and copies of their songs spread around New Zealand and Australia, they were rewarded with a burgeoning fan base, both in real life and online.
Sitting at over 145,000 plus fans on Facebook, Six60 also have to their credit, two double platinum selling singles 'Rise Up 2.0' and 'Don't Forget Your Roots', one platinum selling single 'Only To Be' and a triple platinum Number One debut album. They have toured internationally to sold out crowds for several years now, playing at consistently larger venues every cycle. Along the way they've scored prized time slots at key summer festivals such as La De Da, Rhythm and Vines, Splore, Homegrown and Big Day Out, topped the commercial singles charts, and built a strong, robust audience worldwide.

Blending soul, rock, dubstep and drum and bass, their music is as dynamic, versatile and unexpected as their back story. Extended singer/songwriter jams incorporate dubstep sections as bridges, hard rocking guitar work duels with robust synthetics and thunderous low end bass over vibrant percussive rhythms, and in both voice and instrumentation infectious melody consistently shines through.
They're a band with songs that make just as much sense when listened to with headphones strapped on, as they do in the heat of a capacity concert moment. And with Tiki Taane as co-producer on their self-titled debut album, they have married what they're known for with where they're going. The Griswolds’ first bio simply read: “The chameleons of pop.” That description holds true for the Sydney indie pop group, formed almost two years ago by singer/guitarist Christopher Whitehall and lead guitarist Daniel Duque-Perez, as they look to become a globally known act.
The Griswolds were thrown into the spotlight immediately after they found instant success in early 2012 when they became Australia’s Triple J “Unearthed” feature artist and won a slot on the 2012 Parklife Festival lineup alongside Passion Pit. In the beginning there was no set plan for the music, which was created almost incidentally by the joint efforts of the duo. The two musicians had been playing in various bands around Sydney and got together one night to expand on a guitar riff Dan had written. That was when they knew almost immediately, they had great songwriting chemistry.
“At the very beginning, you don’t really know what to expect and don’t really know what the potential is with a new project,” Christopher said. “There was some skepticism about what we would do with it, but after we wrote a few songs together it was clear that this was something special. These weren’t just good songs; they were some of the best songs we’ve ever written.”
That riff evolved into a song called “Mississippi,” which later became the band’s first hit in Australia. “Mississippi,” and its buoyant, upbeat melody, sing-along chorus and group vocals embrace the exuberant tone the musicians wanted to pursue with The Griswolds.
The Griswolds’ lineup is rounded out by bassist Tim John and drummer Chris Riley. They self-recorded and released their debut Heart of a Lion EP in Australia during the fall of 2012 without actually having a band name yet. After a long late night conversation, the name The Griswolds came up through their mutual love for National Lampoon’s Vacation film series and it stuck. The EP, a shimmering four-song collection of tropical indie pop numbers, immediately earned them notable accolades from press and fans alike will be released in the United States on September 3, 2013.
All of the songs were written and produced by Whitehall and Duque-Perez and were recorded in the musicians’ house as well as a studio in Sydney throughout 2012. They selected the four best songs they’d written to comprise their first EP release. “We decided to go all-in,” Christopher says. “We just wanted to write the best songs and then make it work. And we got lucky. The guys who are in the band are all amazing musicians.”
“Heart of a Lion,” the single, with its charming and buoyant toe-tapping sounds, has received airplay in over 20 countries worldwide. The track was also featured as an iTunes “Single of the Week” and notably created a huge buzz in the Netherlands, where it reached No. 3 in radio airplay.
The Griswolds have toured extensively in Australia, Europe and the U.S. with artists such as, Django Django, San Cisco and Last Dinosaurs to name a few and played numerous Australian festivals including Big Day Out, a show that stands out in their minds as their favorite show to date. “It was 48 degrees Celsius and it was early in the day but when we walked out to the stage the crowd was enormous, over 2000 people all screaming the words back at us,” said Dan, “and best of all was that it was in our home city.”
They plan to expand their aesthetic on their debut album, which they will record with Tony Hoffer in LA in November 2013. It will be released in early 2014 and will showcase the band’s growth since recording their EP. And now with the EP coming out in the States on Wind-up Records, The Griswolds have started thinking beyond making songs with no real intention. Everything, though, still goes back to the two guys who connected over a guitar riff.
“Back when we wrote the EP it was two guys in a house writing songs for fun and not really knowing who was going to be listening to it,” Christopher says. “We wrote for fun and for us and for Australia and that was great. Now we’re getting a lot more ambitious and we’re thinking globally. But we want to stay true to ourselves. I think our style of music all comes down to big choruses you can sing along to.”
Armed with horns, guitars, and everything in between, the six men of Great Caesar produce a brilliant and unmistakable brand of brass-fueled rock. Their sound is at once organic and electrifying, combining jazz roots with hard rock sensibilities in a way that does justice to both.
The gentlemen of Great Caesar met in high school and formed as a jazz trio before gathering three more members, swapping instruments, and evolving steadily into the six-piece powerhouse they are today. Their studio offerings include a self-titled EP (2008) and a string of singles (2010-2013) including “Don’t Ask Me Why,” recorded with producer Griffin Rodriguez (Beirut). First and foremost, however, Great Caesar is a live band, dazzling audiences with performances that are equal parts chaos and virtuosity. Fans have noticed, flocking in ever-growing numbers to shows across the northeastern US.
Great Caesar strives to make music that is loud, live, and contemporary — but also meaningful, working closely with social enterprises, schools, and like-minded artists to inspire positive action on social issues, including education and LGBTQ equality. The band recently raised over $50,000 through the crowdfunding website Kickstarter to create a short film that they hope will open minds and inspire conversations about human rights.

HANNAH RAD is an on-air host at REVOLT TV, This New York City-based music presenter and DJ has also appeared on various BBC Radio 1 programs, guested on Fuse’s Hoppus on Music show and spun events for MTV, Armani, Topshop and at Miami’s sold out Ultra Music Festival. Rad previously hosted the acclaimed Belly of the Beast show on NYC's East Village Radio.
Proving that there is no right or wrong answer to the question: “What is your favorite genre of music?”, she insists that there is but a simple correct reply to the query: RAD MUSIC.

With individual taste and a passion for musical risks, Jason Eldredge appeals to the avid music lover as well as the casual fan seeking a soundtrack to their life’s adventures.
Jason’s musical education started at an early age. “It was obvious to everyone around me that I had a real fondness for music, so babysitters and older kids were always feeding me the cornerstone albums of that time."
“Later on in school, my friends would ask me to create mix tapes for their parties. I never really thought that much about it, but other people seemed to realize that I had a knack for it.”
Jason became a “public radio junkie” while living in Chicago listening to WBEZ. He was involved in the local theater scene and finally moved to the West Coast to pursue his acting career. He discovered KCRW and became a volunteer almost immediately. “I showed up to my volunteer interview in a tie and brought along a portfolio. I knew what I wanted and was determined to be involved with the station.”
Jason's desire for accessibility in introducing the newest jam or resurfacing the occasionally forgotten gem brings a mixture of sounds that is consistently varied and original. “I always take chances. Sometimes the things I think people are going to hate end up being what people love the most. That's one of the best parts of my show.”
Jason was previously named by Billboard Magazine as one of the ‘Top 30 Under Thirty’ in the music Industry for his music supervision work in film and television. His credits include: HBO’s Six Feet Under (music coordinator), The Closer for TNT, and Free Radio for VH-1. He has been featured in other print and online publications such as Monocle Magazine, Hamptons Magazine, LA Weekly, and Mashable.
He has deejayed live for the MTV Video Music Awards, Oliver Peoples, Ace Hotels, Soho House, Santos Party House, Flavorpill, The Standard Hotels, The Bowery Hotel, Armani, and The House of Blues.

In addition to his work in music, Jason has acted in a variety of commercials, films, and stage productions. He studied acting with the Atlantic Theater Company in New York and completed the BFA acting program at the University of Colorado, Boulder. He has also studied photography at UCLA and recently completed a major candidacy in Art History at Columbia University.
album preview: bEEdEEgEE (Gang Gang Dance) - "Sum/One"
bEEdEEgEE is the performing alias of Brian DeGraw, an American artist, musician and producer who lives and works between the inner city and the Catskill region of New York state. Most commonly known in the music world for his work at the centre of Gang Gang Dance and their musical mastery, SUM/ONE is his debut record as a solo artist.
Written and recorded over the course of a year in his Woodstock studio, the W0RMB1N, SUM/ONE initially began life when Brian left New York City - his home for the past twelve years - for the clouds of Woodstock. Amidst the peace of this new environment, the audio sketches he worked on gradually evolved into a project that fuses familiar deep synth soundscapes with audacious pop moments. The nine tracks that comprise SUM/ONE also feature the vocal talents of Alexis Taylor (Hot Chip), Lovefoxxx (CSS), Lizzi Bougatsos (Gang Gang Dance) and Douglas Armour.
SUM/ONE will be released on CD, vinyl and digitally on December 2nd (3rd in North America).

"I plan an interview like a trip," says longtime music curator, radio host, and two-time Grammy nominee Chris Douridas. "I know I'm going to get from here to there, but the side trips and roadside attractions are always the most interesting." Chris' penchant for crossing borders has led him to audiences around the world. Throughout most of the 90's, Chris held the music director position at KCRW. As host of KCRW's popular daily new music program Morning Becomes Eclectic (1990-1998), he was the first to play demos from then-unsigned artists Beck, Gillian Welch and eels, among many others.
While Chris was still in his KCRW role, Geffen Records enlisted him to identify and recruit new artists as an A&R consultant, bringing to the label the bands Remy Zero and That Dog. Two years later, he became an A&R executive at DreamWorks Records where he brought in the eels and Propellerheads, among others.
While at DreamWorks and KCRW, he hosted the debut season of Sessions at West 54th, a weekly PBS music performance and interview program, which bowed in the summer of 1997, and is still in syndication. The show featured interview segments filmed by D.A. Pennebaker, and extended sets from Beck, Fiona Apple, Ben Folds, Sonic Youth, and Zap Mama, along with the television performance debuts of Belle and Sebastian and Jane Siberry, among many others.
Chris is probably best known in film circles as a music supervisor and consultant for major motion pictures and television series, having put together music for Northern Exposure, the Austin Powers series, One Eight Seven, As Good as It Gets, Heat, Grosse Point Blank, Grace of My Heart, American Beauty (GRAMMY nominee for Best Soundtrack), One Hour Photo, Down With Love, The Girl Next Door, The Chumscrubber, Rumor Has It, the record-setting Shrek 2 (GRAMMY nominee for Best Soundtrack) and Bobby, the Robert Kennedy tribute from director Emilio Estevez.
As the new millenium began, Chris set new standards in the online arena as the former VP at AOL Music where he created, produced and hosted the popular Sessions@AOL interview and performance program. For Sessions, Chris interviewed Paul McCartney, U2, Moby, Radiohead, Peter Gabriel, Madonna, Nelly, John Mayer, Sheryl Crow and Avril Lavigne, among hundreds of others.
Also a creative programming consultant for Steve Jobs and Apple's iTunes Music Store, Douridas created and produced the inaugural two years of the live performance and interview series, iTunes Originals, featuring Paul Simon, Jack Johnson, Alanis Morissette, Sting, Willie Nelson, Bjork, PJ Harvey, and others. Additionally, Douridas created and curated the launch of iTunes Essentials, an ongoing series of downloadable music playlists for the iPod culture.
In his voice-over work, Chris was recently heard in the Nissan Shift TV commercial campaign.
He continues his dedication to discovering and nurturing unsigned and forward-leaning artists through his global radio program, heard on KCRW-FM and KCRW.com.
