Havok is an American thrash metal band from Denver, Colorado. Formed in 2004, their members currently consist of David Sanchez (Vocals/guitars), Mike Leon (Bass), Pete Webber (Drums), and Reece Scruggs (Lead guitar). Since signing with England's Candlelight Records, Havok have released two studio albums: 2009's Burn, and 2011's critically acclaimed, Time Is Up.
David Sanchez's love of thrash metal greats, like Metallica, Megadeth, and Slayer, led him to form Havok In December 2007, Havok sent a copy of their EP and a press kit to any metal label they could find. The EP had caught the ear of English extreme metal label, Candlelight Records, and soon after the band agreed to sign with them. On June 2, 2009 Havok released their full length debut, "Burn" The debut was received quite well in the metal community, but it did not yet break them into the global metal scene. After relentless touring in support of "Burn", Havok returned to the studio to record their sophomore effort.
On March 29, 2011 Havok released "Time Is Up". Their sophomore effort spread through the metal community, receiving strong reviews from critics and fans alike. It became a defining album in what has come to be known as the New Wave of Thrash Metal scene. The success of "Time Is Up" has led the band to major tours opening for bands like Sepultura , Death Angel , Anthrax , The English Dogs , The Casualties , Goatwhore , 3 Inches of Blood , Skeletonwitch and Exhumed. 2012 was wrapped up for the band by playing the first Barge to Hell cruise featuring bands At the Gates , Behemoth , Mayhem , Possessed , Exodus and Sacred Reich to name a few.
Black Fast was formed from four corn-fed Midwestern metal nerds who met in the college town of Edwardsville, near the campus of Southern Illinois University. Trevor and Ryan were studying jazz at the time, but all the guys really wanted to do was start a metal band. “We like to take all the elements of the styles we love and put every bit of energy and excitement we have into it. It’s a driving, pedal-to-the-metal sound that makes you go crazy. That’s what it’s all about. That’s what we live for.”
Since 2010, Black Fast has been melting faces and sharing the stage with bands like Havok, Vektor, Toxic Holocaust, Cavalera Conspiracy, Revocation, Forbidden, Warbringer, Nachtmystium, Landmine Marathon, Enabler, Lazarus AD, Abigail Williams, Lord Dying, Onslaught and Agrimonia.
Black Fast recorded a self-titled EP in 2011 and in 2012 Black Fast won the St. Louis ‘Headbang for the Highway,’ battle of the bands contest, earning them the opportunity to play the Sumerian Records stage at the Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival in Kansas City with Upon a Burning Body and I Breather.
In August 2013 they self-released their first full-length album, ‘Starving Out the Light,’ which helped them win the title as ‘Best Metal Band in St. Louis’ from the Riverfront Times for the second time in three years.
STL's THRASH KINGS
Manifest started back in 2009 with lead vocalist and songwriter Mellisa Zaccaria and well known independent singer/songwriter Jaime Redden. The two collaborated and began writing music and performing acoustically at local venues in the North Shore of Massachusetts.
Long time friend and drummer, Jonathan Morse, joined forces with the band, and shortly after, introduced Steve Duff on bass guitar. Then in March 2011, Berkley grad, Dave Lorden, came on board as the band's lead guitarist bringing along with him Garth Retallack on trombone.
Manifest encompasses a plethora of styles and would be short changed by being characterized as alternative rock, independent rock or pop music. Even though the band utilizes these elements, it's fair to say that this group of musicians have made a name for themselves and create music with superb musicianship and an energy that grabs audiences every time.
Manifest is fund raising to help cover the costs of producing their first Mastered EP and also mass producing copies. They also are in need of promotional stickers and t-shirts, a web page, and they are currently playing with an ancient PA system.
Recently, Manifest has been selected to record an EP with former Live Music Coordinator at Emerson College Radio Station 88.9FM, WERS, Michael Davidson. Davidson owns and operates his own self titled recording studio in Brighton Ma. and has recorded national acts such as Regina Spektor, The Slip, Mieka Pauly and Ryan Montbleau. Manifest is very excited about the opportunity to record with such a well-known and experienced recording artist.
Manifest plays popular venues in the Boston area such as Hard Rock Cafe, TT The Bears, Oliver's at Cask n' Flagon, and The Middle East Night Club.
