The Wild Reeds
The Wild Reeds are a quintet from Los Angeles CA, made up of three front women, and two gents on drums and bass. Their harmony-driven indie folk has a sound of its own, but has been compared to Fleet Foxes, Jenny Lewis, and classics such as Fleetwood Mac. Their live performances will transport you to somewhere timeless, all the while painting a picture of the perils of this generation.
With their full band debut album, “Blind and Brave” coming out early next year, you can expect a national tour. Catch The Wild Reeds December residency at the Satellite in Los Angeles, every Monday.
The Herbert Bail Orchestra
From the depths of the modern American folk movement hails the vast musical journey known as the Herbert Bail Orchestra. LA Weekly declares Herbert Bail one of the Best Shows to See in LA. "A fusion of past and present, frontier and adventure, psyche and soul. Full sounds and powerful live performances pull listeners into their timeless dimension." says M. Duwe of The Huffington Post.
Herbert Bail's first album was released in early 2013,The Future's in the Past "a collection of gypsy folk that carves out myths of its own," says Kevin Bronson of BuzzbandsLA. The album traverses from the cryptic shadows of Holy Smokes to the Western infused ballads portrayed in songs like The Nature of Things .
Last year the band collaborated with award winning director Björn Rühmann to create a music video trilogy inspired by three songs from their last album. Part I: The Nature of Things, explores the story of a man, his dog and their last road. Exclusive Release on Nowness, Vimeo Staff Pick, ‘Six of the Best Creative Music Videos' says 1.4
Recently Herbert Bail released a new single You Are Beautiful which received mention in the HUFF POST, OC Weekly, Buzzbands and more. Herbert Bail is currently performing locally in and around Los Angeles and working on a collection of new songs for release sometime next year.
California based Brother Grand blends Psychedelic-Folk Rock with a twist of Film-score Soul. With an emphasis on engaging live performances, Brother Grand pushes the limits without breaking the ties. Not just a mere duo, Brother Grand expands their message through the use of live looping, a rhodes piano, chaotic string textures, thunderous drumming, and heartfelt vocal harmonies. Whether stripped down to acoustic guitar & upright bass, or surfing an electric wall of sound, Brother Grand always delivers with passion, honesty and presence.
