City Takers founder, Scott “Free” Ballauf, knows firsthand the need of the Gospel in the urban culture. Growing up in the hip-hop culture of Miami, FL Scott was drawn to the lifestyle portrayed by hip-hop artist of the times offering the “lust of the flesh and the pride of life”.
He soon began to rap and had a love for the music but also found himself in trouble with the law. After moving to Atlanta in 1999 he soon accepted Christ in the spring of 2000 and placed his aspirations of becoming a hip-hop artist on hold believing that was his “old man”.
After an introduction to Christian Hip Hop through a friend Scott realized he could impact people with his talent to rhyme and was introduced to Empty Vessel Music who used music to do outreaches in urban communities. Scott performed for the first time again in the Projects of Downtown Atlanta but his true calling was yet to come. One evening at Safe House Ministries, an outreach for the homeless in Atlanta, Scott was all set to rap when he was called on to preach because the speaker for the night was a no-show. Scott reluctantly accepted the challenge and since has preached all over the United States and in many countries such as Haiti, Hungary and Bolivia.
From a heart to serve became a door way to saving more souls and unify the body of Christ through preaching the unchanging word of God & Hip Hop music. Scott Free has since then birth Freestyle Missions which has become what we know as City Takers.
Don’t let the dark shades and black beard fool you. Brinson is not trying to disguise anything. In fact, he’s trying to do the opposite – share the innermost parts of himself through hip hop.
Such transparency often manifests itself in songs about his love for Jesus and those in his community. It will also be revealed in heart-gripping tales like “Shoulda Told ‘Em” or “Breaking Down” where the author exposes his regrets and honest emotions.
But there’s raw energy in his rhymes too. Brinson is not afraid to make bold statements (“Don’t Rap No More”) or simply share the joy of a life that has been made pure and free in the sight of the Savior.
His passions are backed by over a decade of experience and training as an ordained minister and studies in the renowned Music Business Program at Belmont University in Nashville, TN. He is a 2011 graduate of the SOMMET Ministry School, has traveled and performed his music on international stages, and was recognized as an Honoree at Atlanta’s Holy Hip Hop Awards.
It all led to his founding of GodChaserz Entertainment (GCE) which has since released over 20 Christ-centered hip hop albums by a roster of artists designed to inspire, uplift, and entertain. The works of Brinson and his GCE family have been covered by various media outlets including ESPN.com, NPR, MTV, S.O.U.L. Magazine, DaSouth.com, The Houston Chronicle, The Wade-O Radio Show and Rapzilla.com.
In 2012, the company partnered with Syntax Distribution for the release of his No Other Heroes album and saw videos for their releases featured on national television stations such as JCTV, GMC, and WayTV.
In short, Brinson is a rapper less concerned with outside appearances than with the positive change that can occur underneath
There's NO ONE in the Hip-Hop industry creating music like these guys are! With bangin' beats, undeniable lyrical ability, and limitless love for ministry, Gideonz Army has definitely introduced the world to a new lane of Hip-Hop! If T.I., and Andre' "3000" Benjamin got together and decided to do music for the man upstairs, you’d have the dynamics of Gideonz Army! Their style of ministering the Gospel allows people to see that the coolest thing they can ever do in life, is enter into a relationship with Jesus Christ. They are NOTHING like your average rappers, or the ministers most of us grew up listening too!! "We're creating our own lane in Gospel, so some opposition is expected; but at the same time, opposition only makes a person stronger" -Souljah(of Gideonz Army). From the Club to the Pulpit, these guys are on a mission to spread the message of Jesus Christ, and refuses to slow down for traditional religion....
Christian Hip Hop Artist
Anthony Morant aka AGprimo was born April, 17, 1988 in Miami Fl. He was raised in a Christian home with family and friends who realized that this young man has been blessed with a gift from God. AG has always been known as the “Shy” guy, but in recent years has come out of his shell to do the work he has been called to do. Through God’s constant blessings, He has grown in his skills over the years and has confirmed this is what he wants to do for the rest of his life; which is serve God through production and music. Over the years he has developed from a young choir boy to a current producer, song writer, audio engineer and powerful artist. In 2008 A.G.V. began to look for direction from God to fully commit to producing music. AG had been doing music for years but just launched into his solo career in 2009, releasing his first solo project Restoration Muzik Vol.1 (mixtape) in 2010. His goal is to minister and plant seeds in youth and young adults to share the love and experience of his life and the transformation he has had through Jesus Christ. AG says that "God has shown me how to do this in a different ways and will help impact this generation and culture."
AGprimo has signed to CityTakers and is set to release Restoration Muzik which is the best of vol.1 and vol.2 on one cd.
