Raheem DeVaughn's story begins with music—his mother's vinyl collection to be exact. "I always loved music so I would sneak into her record collection when she wasn't around and play her stuff," says DeVaughn. Although his parents were not together, his father, noted jazz musician Abdul Wadud, was an influence as well. "Music was just always around me", says DeVaughn. "I can remember at a very young age, standing in my mother's living room, listening to music and saying to myself, 'I'm going to be an entertainer.' It was that simple for me. I think I just always knew."
Bystorm Entertainment/RCA Records artist Mali Music emerged an underground fave for his arresting mash-up of contemporary, inspirational story-telling. He made mainstream waves at the 2011 BET Awards as the first inspirational artist to take the Music Matters stage. His highly anticipated debut EP, "Mali Is," releases this summer, following the digital release single, "Ready Aim." The groundbreaking talent says he's concentrating on one central goal-- to change the game, and music is his weapon of choice.
Khela is an artist that touches the spirit of all those she comes in contact with. Being a singer and songwriter, her engaging persona and her captivating vocals readily entice through soulful renditions of masterfully tailored music.
A native of Northern California, Khela has always been a lover of music. She began moving people’s hearts while singing in the church choir throughout much of her childhood; it was this ability to capture an audience that earned her the #1 spot at the California State Fair singing competition in 2006. From that point forward, she resolved herself to the pursuit of a career in the music industry.
She has added to her repertoire of growing achievements a soulful debut single titled “Walk With Me”, a follow up video EPK, pivotal performances at prominent venues, and sharing the marquee with artist(s) such as Lenny Williams (former lead singer of Tower of Power), Grammy winning R&B/Soul artist Chrisette Michele, Def Jam artist John West, Grammy nominated R&B/Soul artist Bilal Oliver, R&B/Soul artist Lyfe Jennings, Latoya London of American Idol and Sony Music Ent. pop group Karmin.
Khela was also named as an official nominee for a 2011 Hollywood Music in Media Award for her song “Walk With Me” as Best R&B/Soul song, and was chosen as a Top 6 semi-finalist contestant in the BMI Know Them Now Unsigned Songwriter competition in Los Angeles, CA.
Following the success of the previous year, Khela was named as a nominee for a 2012 Artists in Music Award as Best R&B/Soul artist and her song "Hold On" was nominated by the Hollywood Music in Media Awards as Best R&B/Soul song of 2012.
While collaborating w Bay Area musicians and producers Will Sap and L.Richmond as well as incorporating fresh talent Spiffy of Headphonemuzik, Khela shares what she calls her soul music on her recently released debut EP titled “Beautiful Monster”.
Khela is represented by Paula Reina at Velvet Rhythm Entertainment (VRE Music: Prototype aka Urban Punk, Even Odds, Universal Music Group). VRE is creating and laying the foundation for Khela’s future career as one of the most notable up and coming R&B/Soul artists to originate from the San Francisco Bay Area.
LB is LB. No categories, no gimmicks, no boundaries, no box. Recording artist LB has built a solid reputation on the raw, uncut, “real” he conveys through his music and live performance. Hailing from the sunny shores of the Bay Area, LB grew his musical roots exposed to true “soul music” in the popular pews of Oakland’s Love Center Church under the auspices of gospel music titan, Walter Hawkins.
LB soon moved from the pew to the choir stand eventually singing backup for Hawkins, Tramaine Hawkins, Darryl Coley, and a host of other gospel giants. Later, he formed his own group which developed the undercurrents for his artistry and creativity. Amazingly, you wouldn’t believe with this resume LB never set out to be an artist or entertainer, reserving those visions to mere dreams.
As a film student at Howard University, LB set out on a path to become the next big music video director. However, it was undeniable that what once distant dream had collided with destiny birthing his solo music career. Armed with a street gritty, yet velvety smooth voice, and a style to match, LB makes no apology for his unique sound. In an industry rife with duplicates and imitations, LB’s authenticity helps to set him apart from the crowd, a bold move when a mass of artists are manufactured to turn profits, thereby cheapening the artistry. LB knows there is only one LB and will never be another.
