War Of Ages
WAR OF AGES draws a definitive line in the sand against fear and frailty with Arise and Conquer, their brand new album produced by As I Lay Dying frontman Tim Lambesis and his production partner, Daniel Castleman.
The band's convictions are as deeply rooted in strength through spirit as their music is based in intensely heavy but melodic and catchy metal and hardcore. Their burgeoning and relentless concern for the human condition has blossomed on Arise and Conquer, an album full of positive metalcore that furthers their message of victory.
"Without pain, there could be no compassion. And without hurt, how would we learn to heal?" asks singer Leroy Hamp, his empathy with the hurting youth of the world clear. "These are the moments when men and women rise up and warriors are born." Hamp and his brother, drummer Alex, certainly know about rising from pain.
In their life experience, they have dealt with kidnapping, abuse both physical and mental, and the violence that surrounded their criminal father and his backward beliefs. Through their faith in Jesus Christ as redeemer and savior, the brothers soldiered on and have forged a life of their own choosing.
War Of Ages is as much ministry as heavy music and that spirit shines throughout the new album. New guitarist Branon Bernatowicz adds his spice to main songwriter Steve Brown's already well-known classic metal and New Wave Of Swedish Death Metal-inspired chops, which first came to light on the band's prior Facedown releases Pride of the Wicked and Fire from the Tomb. Bass player T.J. Alford rounds out the band, helping them deliver a powerful live show that has enthralled audiences on tour with diverse bands like Bleeding Through, Throwdown and Soilwork.
Lambesis brought a determined focus to the band's already solid songwriting. After a month of intensive recording in Southern California, the boys who call Erie, Pennsylvania home emerged with an album that has both absorbed and surpassed their previous output. With the kind of mastery that can only be born from fervent passion, Brown weaves melody with might, building a sound framework for Leroy's inspired and crucial storytelling. Only years of collaboration and a thick friendship could produce the command and virtuosity heard on Arise and Conquer.
War of Ages' 5th Studio Album, "Return To Life", is in Stores Now.
Those Who Fear
Born and raised in the Pennsylvania Rust Belt, Those Who Fear are coming out swinging with the blue collar work ethic of their hometown, Pittsburgh, PA staunchly ingrained in them. Their brand of east coast hardcore comes at you like a wall of sound, and Those Who Fear make no apologies for the message behind the music. "The power behind our message is our main drive. Without that we'd be just another band."
Those Who Fear self-released an EP in 2011 and hit the road hard, touring all over the US. Now the band finds themselves exploring the darker side of faith and ideology, writing and recording their debut full length Unholy Anger. This newest effort was recorded with Josh Schroeder at Random Awesome Studios (A Plea For Purging, The Burial). "Having worked with Josh on the Legacy EP, he knows how we work and really pushed us to get the best record we could in the time we had. Long 10 hour days, but we all believe it was well worth it."
Those Who Fear will release Unholy Anger with Facedown Records on February 5, 2013.
Debut LP from PHINEHAS, "thegodmachine" will be available July 19th, 2011
Colossus is a beast of a band whose sound lives up to the name. Massive and formidable, faithfully dedicated to the traditional hardcore principles, while also generously carving in plenty of hooks and sing-alongs for a superb multi-faceted and progressive sound. The diversity of the members’ influences enable them to keep the song writing fresh, and a modest hardcore scene in the band’s hometown of Sioux Falls, SD “has helped us take inspiration from a lot of different sounds because we have to reach out to find new music.” Going out of their local scene to experience musical diversity pays off for Colossus in doses of ingenuity and invention in each song; songs that make you want to learn the lyrics as fast as you can so you can sing along.
Now, signing with Facedown Records, Colossus looks forward to releasing their debut full length Time & Eternal on June 11th.
I Am The Witness
“We will stand together!” This mantra describes not only the brotherhood within Jacksonville Florida metalcore band I Am The Witness, but also the brotherhood the band hopes to inspire in mankind through positive, uplifting lyrics.
This Summer will find the band on the road throughout the southeast US, touring their debut EP “Welcome to the Real World”, released April 2013. Travelling has not affected their creative process, with the new single "Goliath" released early September and a music video being filmed for the single "Goliath" as well as other new music already being written and plans to record again after the start of 2014.
Hailing from many years of experience in local bands in a saturated Jacksonville Florida market, I Am The Witness draws from influences old and new, citing such icons as Atreyu and Killswitch Engage as well as newcomers We Came As Romans, and Memphis May Fire. Boasting melodic choruses with lines that are sure to stick with you long after listening as well as refreshingly technical breakdowns, the band offers fine-tuned compositions and an energetic live show that will keep your eyes to the stage and have you looking forward to hearing them again. Look for them on tour at the end of December 2013 and start of January 2014 on the start of their tour.
