THE SAN FRANCISCO ALBUM PROJECT: PRINCE & THE REVOLUTION - “PARADE”

“If nobody kills me or thrills me soon I'll die in your arms under the cherry moon”
Some Of Our City’s Most Beloved Drag Performers Have Joined Forces To Create A New Bi-Monthly Event Called THE SAN FRANCISCO ALBUM PROJECT!

Who Are We...?

Every Other Month The San Francisco Album Project Presents & Performs A Single Album By The Greatest Artists/Bands/Genres Of The Last 50 Years! We’ve Culled The Talent & The Taste, Now We Need You To Celebrate These LPs With Us!

Peaches Christ Productions is proud to co-present the drag-stravaganza known as the SAN FRANCISCO ALBUM PROJECT! Witness some of San Francisco’s most talented drag stars come together to again celebrate the fine, low-art of Lipsynch & Appropriation. The performance begins at 8:00pm, Sunday, September 22nd @ THE CHAPEL – San Francisco’s newest music venue located at 777 Valencia Street, in the heart of the Mission District. The third event in this on-going series will be based around Prince & The Revolution’s PARADE album. Though originally music from the film “Under the Cherry Moon”, The San Francisco Album Project has rescued these gorgeous tunes from said doomed and embarrassing piece of cinema, and has now given it a whole new narrative complete with epic struggles, bacchanalian pageantry, high drama and, of course, immaculate tributes to the Prince we all once loved.

Made up of performer and producer veterans from the legendary scenes, clubs and theatres of the last 20 years, The San Francisco Album Project is committed to bringing an inventive, theatrical and narrative aesthetic to the art of the lip-sync. Taking the format of the ‘classic album’ as the text to build off of, The San Francisco Album Project hopes to honor the source material as much as present to the audience a never before imagined interpretation of what is already very charged and fundamental music.

No emcees – no breaks between songs – no covers or remixes – only the album as you know and love it, presented to you by those who know and love it just as much. Every show by The San Francisco Album Project is going to be full of surprises, and sure to entertain. Enjoy the sounds of the era both before and after the show, as our house DJs will spin only music released the same year as the album being commemorated…!

The main performers for PARADE consists of: Trixxie Carr (CounterPULSE, Peaches Christ Productions, SOME THING, Trannyshack); Precious Moments (BULB, CounterPULSE, PEPPERSPRAY, Thrillpeddlers, Trannyshack); Stanley Frank Sensation (Daytime Realness, Tiara Sensation, SOME THING); Nikki Sixx Mile (SOME THING, Tiara Sensation, Trannyshack); Raya Light (CounterPULSE, Peaches Christ Productions, Thrillpeddlers, Trannyshack); Jordan L’Moore (PEPPERSPRAY, Trannyshack); Fruitbomb (Trannyshack, The Monster Show); Elijah Minnelli (Peaches Christ Productions, SOME THING, Tiara Sensation, Trannyshack); U-Phoria (Mascara, TheOffCenter, Trannyshack); Syphillis Diller (Trannyshack, Peaches Christ Productions)

There will only be one staging of each show, so be sure not to miss it!

Tunes the first hour, and after the show until midnight courtesy of both DJ Chicken & The Fat Pescatarian (Rarebits).

The troupe itself is mutable in size, made up of almost 20 members: performers, directors, producers, set designers, stagehands, DJs, and video artists. Although Robert Barber and Nathan Rapport curate the album titles, the individual artists lay the foundations of their own performance. The narrative arc of the whole show is then devised, sculpted and directed by the group itself, under guidance from Michael Soldier.
