Ebony Bones is a British singer-songwriter, record producer and actress. Writing and producing her debut album Bone Of My Bones, she was named one of the "40 Men And Women Who Make London" by Time Out for their 40th anniversary edition as well as producing the soundtrack for Yves Saint Laurent's Manifesto campaign. Currently finishing work on her second album recorded in India with members of the Symphony Orchestra of India, as well as headlining the official opening of Art Basel in Miami, in 2011 Ebony Bones also opened for Cee Lo Green on his European tour. Bones will also feature on the new album for Amadou and Mariam as well as upcoming collaborations alongside Yoko Ono.

Born Ebony Thomas attending London's Sylvia Young Theatre School alongside classmate Amy Winehouse, it is known that Ebony began her career at the age of 12, when she was spotted by BAFTA award winning actor and Artistic Director of Shakespeare's Globe Theatre Mark Rylance, for his production of Macbeth also starring actress Jane Horrocks. Nominated for The British Soap Awards in 2004 and 2005 for playing the role of Yasmin Green on the FIVE (UK) TV drama Family Affairs, she was one of the programme's youngest, longest-serving and most popular cast members.

Known for her onstage antics and theatrical costumes, she opened for Cee Lo Green 2011 Tour across the UK and Europe. Beginning as a self-taught musician performing under the stage name 'Ebony Bones!'given to her by her original live drummer Rat Scabies of The Damned, she anonymously uploaded music onto a blank Myspace page. Writing and producing her own material, "We Know All About U" depicting an Orwellian society, made its radio debut as "The Hottest Record In The World Today" as well as "Single Of The Week" on BBC Radio 1 by Dj Zane Lowe, also receiving daytime play from Jo Whiley, becoming Radio 1's most played single by an unsigned artist. Her debut album Bone Of My Bones was released in 2009 featuring W.A.R.R.I.O.R" and "Guess We'll Always Have NY" later used for campaigns by Yves Saint Laurent, EA Sports FIFA 2011 soundtrack, and a controversial Citroën car commercial featuring John Lennon, which was later banned in parts of Europe.
Photographed for The New York Times by Jean-Baptiste Mondino and appearing in publications such as Rolling Stone, Vogue, NME, Q, The Guardian, The Observer, i-D, and Entertainment Weekly, she has also been on the covers of French lifestyle magazine Télérama three times, Tsugi, Japan's Eyescream, as well as German music magazine De:Bug.
In 2010 she was requested to perform live at The Shanghai World Trade Show Expo 2010, Central Park SummerStage in New York, and The Grand Palais in Paris for SFR live concerts. In the summer of 2011 Ebony Bones also debuted new material from her upcoming sophomore album at The Cannes Film Festival and T-Mobile International Film Festival.

TECLA is a first-generation New York City (Hell’s kitchen) native — born of Italian and Haitian immigrants.
She has gone from being a classically trained child-pianist- prodigy to versatile performer in hip-hop, reggae, punk-rock, electronic, funk bands.
She has toured throughout the U.S., Canada, Europe, and Asia with Chrisette Michele, Das Racist, Gordon Voidwell,Chairlift, and more.
Exploring her talents on a variety of synth keyboards she discovered and developed her own modern musical sound.
TECLA is understood and known for her genre-mixing melodic compositions, danceable afro/funk/caribbecan/ tropical/pop production style, and boundary-breaking songwriting and rap lyricism.
TECLA has been described as “the new freak Lauryn Hill”, “SWV on acid”, “the Rocktronica Black Cinder- ella”, “Ritchie Valens meets Pagliacci”. It is hard to think of anything that TECLA cannot do as a pianist, composer,producer, DJ, singer, and rapper.
As the most un-apologetically complicated gender-boundary-breaking female in the pop music circle today, TECLA will only continue to rise to a place where no one has gone before.

The Ceremonies

Upon meeting Matthew, Mark, and Michael Cook — three smart, stylish, and somewhat serious-minded brothers who make up the Los Angeles band The Ceremonies — it’s clear that these aren’t just any ordinary young people. Their biggest influences are ’80s post-punk pioneers Echo & The Bunnymen, The Smiths, and The Cure. The oldest, 21-year-old Matthew, who is The Ceremonies’ musical architect and lyricist, cites the romantic poets William Blake and William Wordsworth, and British futurist writer Aldous Huxley as major inspirations. A lover of conceptual art and experimental film, Matthew attends art school, as does Michael, 19, who is also an abstract painter. Rounding out the highly artistic trio is Michael's twin brother Mark, who pursues creative writing and painting with his brothers while also working toward a business degree. The images that The Ceremonies’ have made public are stark black and whites of their creative lives, whether it’s a shot of them playing guitars in the studio, Michael drawing a self-portrait, or all three of them composing a painting to illustrate the concept behind their debut single “Land of Gathering.” Drawn to the full sensory experience (it’s hard to think of Depeche Mode or Joy Division without conjuring up Anton Corbijn’s iconic portraits), The Ceremonies are in full control of their visual statement as well as their musical one.

“We cross-breed the rock band feeling with a multi-media theatrical element when we perform,” says Matthew, citing the Talking Heads’ David Byrne in Stop Making Sense as inspiration. “Our shows aren’t just concerts, but something much more special — where people can go not only to watch our performance but also to have an impactful experience." “That’s why we call ourselves The Ceremonies,” explains Mark. “We’ve created a sense of communion through music,” adds Matthew. “Ceremonies can be both positive or negative. Ceremonies are held for someone's funeral or wedding; they are all-encompassing gatherings about engaging with emotion."

The exuberant “Land of Gathering” is all soaring harmonies, airy synths, and bright horns set to an insistently chugging backbeat. It’s a blend of cinematic, melodic pop lushness, ’80s New Wave nostalgia, and cutting-edge alternative rock aesthetics, reflecting the band members’ love for such classic pop tunesmiths as Michael Jackson, The Beach Boys, and The Righteous Brothers, as well as current tastemakers Arcade Fire. But the Cooks, working with producer Danny Garibay, are clever and talented enough to transcend their influences and create something entirely their own.

The brothers, who grew up in Los Angeles, recall their childhood rarely holding a silent moment; song never failed to flow through the Cook household. When Matthew was a teenager, he discovered a dark, swirling cover of The Beatles’ “All You Need Is Love” by Echo and the Bunnymen, which he found an intriguing contrast to the original. He eventually turned his brothers on to his favorite music and the three formed The Ceremonies while Michael and Mark were still in high school, where they performed in an a cappella group and in musicals.

“It’s hard to find the right people to be in a band with,” Matthew says, “and I’ve realized that making music with my brothers is really special.” While Matthew writes the songs and plays all the instruments on the band’s recordings, all three band members play various instruments live and sing lead vocals. “There’s definitely a quality each of us has in our voices that allows us to intertwine and come together,” Mark says. “Our vibratos are pretty much the same pace, which is difficult to find when you’re singing with other people,” notes Michael.

The brothers met Danny Garibay through a mutual friend and bonded over their shared musical taste. Matthew and Garibay began to retool the demos Matthew had created, injecting rhythmic urgency and other production flourishes into the sound. Garibay brought the music to Troy Carter, who also manages Lady Gaga and John Legend. Carter asked for a meeting. Now The Ceremonies are signed to Carter’s company Atom Factory and are working on their debut album, which they describe as “very conceptual.” “The songs are about maintaining the perspective of a child in the adult world,” Matthew says. ”We’re really interested in the idea of keeping imagination alive. ‘Land of Gathering’ is a metaphor for a place you can go in your mind to preserve childhood wonderment. If we can inspire other people to hold onto that appreciation for things that go unnoticed, it would be huge for us.”

It might seem odd for a band without a full-length to enjoy accolades ranging from the New York Times to Pitchfork, but ESCORT is definitely not your typical band. Escort is big. Literally. The seventeen-member “disco orchestra”, founded by producers Eugene Cho and Dan Balis, and fronted by lead singer Adeline Michèle, features an incredible cast of musicians who have played with everyone from indie-rock titans Arcade Fire to avant-classical luminaries Alarm Will Sound.
Escort burst on to the scene in 2006 with a string of critically acclaimed 12"s that included future classics "Starlight" and "All Through The Night", both DJ staples that get still get plenty of play on dancefloors. As DJs nursed their electro-clash hangover with a seemingly never ending stream of disco edits, Escort stood out, in part, by creating dance music the old fashioned way: with impeccable production, musicianship, and songwriting.
The following several years saw them bring the same uncompromising approach to their live show. In an era where dance music is dominated by samples and computers, Escort took a sprawling ensemble to the stage and developed a reputation as one of New York’s most compelling live acts, capable of performing their elaborate recordings note for note. Late last year, Escort released their first taste of the new record: "Cocaine Blues", a loose reinterpretation of the 1976 Dillinger classic that received rave reviews and quickly became an underground sensation, building even more anticipation for what's to come.
Now, Escort’s long-awaited debut LP is finally set for release this November. The entire album is steeped in the venerable tradition of clubland’s holy trinity — New York, Chicago, and Detroit — but it seems particularly reminiscent of mutant-pop luminaries such as Kid Creole and the Coconuts and Ian Dury, who somehow managed to translate their sardonic sensibilities to the dance-floor. And by embracing the legacy of these forward-thinking but classic acts, they have yet managed to create something strikingly new.
The LP’s opener “Chameleon” is a perfect example: a three-act play about the French serial impostor Frederic Bourdin, set to a beat that’s equal parts Thriller and the Tom Tom Club. The tracks, “Make Me Over” and “Why oh Why” seem to explore the lost possibilities of another era, rather than simply trying to re-create it. The 1937 standard “A Sailboat in the Moonlight” is twisted into a lost August Darnell classic. The album also includes the definitive versions of their 12” DJ releases — which have been remixed, remastered, rearranged, and re-recorded specially for the LP — to complete an album with absolutely no filler.
Scissor Sisters frontman Jake Shears recently described Escort as the “best disco you’ve ever heard.” He just might be right.

resident DJ Jason Eldredge (KCRW/East Village Radio)

With individual taste and a passion for musical risks, Jason Eldredge appeals to the avid music lover as well as the casual fan seeking a soundtrack to their life’s adventures.

Jason’s musical education started at an early age. “It was obvious to everyone around me that I had a real fondness for music, so babysitters and older kids were always feeding me the cornerstone albums of that time."

“Later on in school, my friends would ask me to create mix tapes for their parties. I never really thought that much about it, but other people seemed to realize that I had a knack for it.”

Jason became a “public radio junkie” while living in Chicago listening to WBEZ. He was involved in the local theater scene and finally moved to the West Coast to pursue his acting career. He discovered KCRW and became a volunteer almost immediately. “I showed up to my volunteer interview in a tie and brought along a portfolio. I knew what I wanted and was determined to be involved with the station.”

Jason's desire for accessibility in introducing the newest jam or resurfacing the occasionally forgotten gem brings a mixture of sounds that is consistently varied and original. “I always take chances. Sometimes the things I think people are going to hate end up being what people love the most. That's one of the best parts of my show.”

Jason was previously named by Billboard Magazine as one of the ‘Top 30 Under Thirty’ in the music Industry for his music supervision work in film and television. His credits include: HBO’s Six Feet Under (music coordinator), The Closer for TNT, and Free Radio for VH-1. He has been featured in other print and online publications such as Monocle Magazine, Hamptons Magazine, LA Weekly, and Mashable.

He has deejayed live for the MTV Video Music Awards, Oliver Peoples, Ace Hotels, Soho House, Santos Party House, Flavorpill, The Standard Hotels, The Bowery Hotel, Armani, and The House of Blues.

In addition to his work in music, Jason has acted in a variety of commercials, films, and stage productions. He studied acting with the Atlantic Theater Company in New York and completed the BFA acting program at the University of Colorado, Boulder. He has also studied photography at UCLA and recently completed a major candidacy in Art History at Columbia University.

Guest DJ Chris Douridas (KCRW)

"I plan an interview like a trip," says longtime music curator, radio host, and two-time Grammy nominee Chris Douridas. "I know I'm going to get from here to there, but the side trips and roadside attractions are always the most interesting." Chris' penchant for crossing borders has led him to audiences around the world. Throughout most of the 90's, Chris held the music director position at KCRW. As host of KCRW's popular daily new music program Morning Becomes Eclectic (1990-1998), he was the first to play demos from then-unsigned artists Beck, Gillian Welch and eels, among many others.

While Chris was still in his KCRW role, Geffen Records enlisted him to identify and recruit new artists as an A&R consultant, bringing to the label the bands Remy Zero and That Dog. Two years later, he became an A&R executive at DreamWorks Records where he brought in the eels and Propellerheads, among others.

While at DreamWorks and KCRW, he hosted the debut season of Sessions at West 54th, a weekly PBS music performance and interview program, which bowed in the summer of 1997, and is still in syndication. The show featured interview segments filmed by D.A. Pennebaker, and extended sets from Beck, Fiona Apple, Ben Folds, Sonic Youth, and Zap Mama, along with the television performance debuts of Belle and Sebastian and Jane Siberry, among many others.

Chris is probably best known in film circles as a music supervisor and consultant for major motion pictures and television series, having put together music for Northern Exposure, the Austin Powers series, One Eight Seven, As Good as It Gets, Heat, Grosse Point Blank, Grace of My Heart, American Beauty (GRAMMY nominee for Best Soundtrack), One Hour Photo, Down With Love, The Girl Next Door, The Chumscrubber, Rumor Has It, the record-setting Shrek 2 (GRAMMY nominee for Best Soundtrack) and Bobby, the Robert Kennedy tribute from director Emilio Estevez.

As the new millenium began, Chris set new standards in the online arena as the former VP at AOL Music where he created, produced and hosted the popular Sessions@AOL interview and performance program. For Sessions, Chris interviewed Paul McCartney, U2, Moby, Radiohead, Peter Gabriel, Madonna, Nelly, John Mayer, Sheryl Crow and Avril Lavigne, among hundreds of others.

Also a creative programming consultant for Steve Jobs and Apple's iTunes Music Store, Douridas created and produced the inaugural two years of the live performance and interview series, iTunes Originals, featuring Paul Simon, Jack Johnson, Alanis Morissette, Sting, Willie Nelson, Bjork, PJ Harvey, and others. Additionally, Douridas created and curated the launch of iTunes Essentials, an ongoing series of downloadable music playlists for the iPod culture.

In his voice-over work, Chris was recently heard in the Nissan Shift TV commercial campaign.

He continues his dedication to discovering and nurturing unsigned and forward-leaning artists through his global radio program, heard on KCRW-FM and KCRW.com.
