New York, NY, 10027
9:30 PM (event ends at 10:30 PM)
Alberta Hunter was an American blues singer, songwriter, and nurse. Her career began in the early 1920s and stretched for several decades into a huge resurgence in the mid 1980's. Hunter was a successful jazz and blues recording artist, who was critically acclaimed with the ranks of Ethel Waters and Bessie Smith. Her critically acclaimed "Downhearted Blues" will be one of the many iconic songs that will be performed by Red Rooster's resident songstress, the great Ms. Boncellia Lewis. This is the latest performance, by Ms. Lewis in a series of tributes to iconic women in the jazz and blues world. You won't want to miss what promises to be another special night.
