Billy Rogan is a well-versed guitarist know mostly for his instrumental acoustic work whose influences include the styles and techniques of similar prominent guitarists such as Michael Hedges, Leo Kottke, Keller Williams and Kaki King. His compositions reflect a unique combination of classical and modern fingerstlye with hints of new age sounds that blend forms with these intricate details of inspiration. His skilled touch brings stories to the strings in tales of heartfelt bits and pieces, shifting rhythms and tempos - all with a soulful, fiery feel.
Rogan's music has been featured on NPR, PBS, Sirius Radio as well as The American Society of Composers and Publishing (ASCAP) main web page for their highly-acclaimed "Audio Portrait" series which gives listeners unique insight into the creative process, as told by the writers themselves.
His solo acoustic technique has led him to work alongside acclaimed artists in the music industry, opening for Grammy nominated musicians such as jazz pianist Brad Mehldau, guitarist Peter Bernstein and most recently with Grammy nominated guitar legend and master of the Fender Telecaster, Bill Kirchen. Rogan has honed his unique approach and guitar performance style by attending intensive clinics in the past, with guitarists Tim Reynolds of The Dave Matthews Band, blues great Toby Walker, Patrick Sweany, Gospel Blues legend Spencer Bohren, popular ragtime/blues guitarist Roy Book Binder.
Through festivals, national tours, concert halls, night clubs, television performances, and even in the recent past, the subways of NYC as a Music Under New York Arts for Transit performer, Billy Rogan's ability to continue to capture audiences with a musical connection and energy that pulls at the heart.
