Laurelin Kruse, The Soft Sun, A Girl I Know, The Breakups

Laurelin Kruse

Laurelin E. Cruz is an indie singer and a quirky songwriter from the Colorado Desert. She is influenced by literally everyone from Jenny Lewis and the Watson Twins to Two Gallants and literally everyone in between. Her favorite band is The Elected. She got serious about music on the day she thought to herself, "hey why not write some original sawngs?" Speaking of which, her songs deal with everything from getting turned down at America's Got Talent auditions to the weed apocalypse and literally everything in between. So far she has 4 songs but is working on a 5th and 6th now. Why does Laurelin E. Krause like music so much? To answer this we must first ask ourselves, "who's asking?" Then we will find that the reason she loves music is because of the way it makes her feel. Toward the end of paying to audit classes at Yale School, Laurelin E. Krooss met one Jack Goldman. "Who's Jack?" I bet you're wondering. Jack is an ESPY (ask Mirko what this is) winning producer known for his work with the found sex sound group Sidewalk Date. When Jack and Laurie first met he had her sign a contract agreeing that, with Jack as her producer, she had to do whatever he said and could never cry. After that they started whipping together her first sophomore album, "Winter in Stiles (or, Winter in Mindy's Eyes)." The more Jorg' pushed Larn toward "the Reliant K sound," the harder it became for Lar to stop herself from crying even though she knew he was right. Get excited because this album has everything from drum set to vocals to percussion and literally everything in between. As Lol Lin Ku says in her never before heard single, Jupiter, "keep your hat on."

The Soft Sun

A Girl I Know

Carolina Hoyos and Ken Franklin are the architects behind A Girl I Know. They are also former band-mates from Two Birds and cast-mates from the film Roses Of April. The debut single "Bang Bang Bang" features Jeremiah Bitsui who is most recently known for playing the part as Victor in the smash TV show "Breaking Bad".

A Girl I Know recorded their album in several studios, bedrooms and living rooms up and down the west coast of the USA. The debut single "Bang Bang Bang" will be released on September 25, 2012 and features a mash-up of genres comparable to M.I.A., Beck and everything in between.

The Breakups

We are a band called the breakups. Calling ourselves a band means that there are things we're supposed to do. The first is to write songs and play them for people with as much abandon as we can possibly muster. Then there are things like booking shows, and networking, and touring, and taking band photos, and making fliers, and making T-shirts, and getting Zach Braff to put one of our songs in a movie, and, of course, writing the dreaded band biography. Publicists will tell you that people like a story. They're not wrong. Just ask Jack White and his "sister," Meg.

We could tell you our story. You might even be riveted by it if you're, ya know, into that sort of thing. But our guess is that you couldn't care less where we grew up, or what music our parents listened to, or what diseases we've had, or that at some point we moved from a town in one part of the country to a city in another part of the country, or when we first realized that music was our greatest passion in life, or which other artists we sort of sound like, but not really.

You want a story? Come listen to us play our songs and you'll know everything you need to know about the breakups.

It’s official. The West Coast and specifically LA’s local music scene is giving Brooklyn a run for it’s money. Want to experience this burgeoning scene for yourself? Look no further than The MuseBox/Reverbnation’s November Residency every Thursday at The Silverlake Lounge!

To kick things off, we stacked our first night, November 7th, with a stellar line-up of garage rocking, psyched out area locals. Headlining the night are LA’s own Baby Fleas, grimy punks with a penchant for pop. Also on the bill are dreamy space band The Tulips, along with San Diego’s Wild Wild Wets andJack Berry & The Loaded Loot.

The event, powered by The MuseBox, is also in conjunction with ReverbNation, supportingNoKillLA – an organization works to find homes for shelter animals to avoid euthanasia and working towards making LA a NO KILL CITY by 2017. A truly dedicated organization we all strongly believe in.

Ready for the kicker? The stacked night is totally and completely FREE, not even an RSVP needed! That’s five incredible locals acts, one incredible cause, and a typically listless night now taken care of for you.

Don’t miss out!
