Watch & Listen
Exmortus are an entity amongst themselves and their music, both complex and thoroughly hook-laden, refuses to lend itself to easy categorization. From their technical death-thrash riffage and surgically precise drumming to their neo-classical, twin virtuoso lead guitar attack, their appeal is vast. Fans of death metal, thrash, prog metal, traditional heavy metal and all true metal sub-genres alike enjoy having their craniums crushed by Exmortus.
Now partnered with the quickly-rising New York metal powerhouse Heavy Artillery Records, Exmortus prepare to take their metal domination worldwide with the release of "In Hatred's Flame" scheduled for July 2008. False metallers beware, Exmortus are heavily armed and they have come to destroy!
Growing up in the San Francisco area suburbs as young metal heads can make it quite likely to take influence from the pioneers of metal that spanned the area in the 1980’s. So it’s no surprise that Hatchet describes their sound as “Pure, Uncompromising, Bay Area Thrash Metal”.
Since hitting the Bay Area Metal scene in early 2007, Hatchet quickly made a name for itself. They worked hard to gig as often as they could and also not compete with, but group together bands of the like to help strengthen the scene.
After self-releasing two demos, the band’s debut album, Awaiting Evil, was released in mid-2008 via Metal Blade Records. The album was well-received by thrash enthusiasts around the globe and proved a great beginning for Hatchet. During the album cycle, the band completed 3 full DIY U.S. tours that helped put them on the map for up and coming thrash metal bands.
Their sophomore effort, Dawn of the End, released on their new label, The End Records, showcased a much more aggressive and professionally oriented band, as they introduced a new lineup. The band hit the road and performed over 200 shows throughout 2013/14 touring and performing alongside national acts such as: Soilwork, Jeff Loomis Band, Blackguard, Trivium, Flotsam and Jetsam, Exmortus, Warbringer, Havok, Black Tide, Cellador and Threat Signal
The band’s third release titled Fear Beyond Lunacy is highly anticipated among thrashers and metal heads worldwide. The album will debut a new Hatchet lineup behind founding member, vocalist, and lead guitarist, Julz Ramos. The new members have injected the band with a surge of raw energy, and fans of Hatchet will be overly satisfied with this revived enthusiasm laid into the recordings. Says Ramos, “the faster, thrashier tracks hit harder than ever before, while the melodic stuff is catchier and we’ve even experimented with some heavier, slower tempos.”
The band is eager to release this monster of an album and look forward to spending as much time as possible on the road in support.
Dogs Of Delphi
Southern heavy groove-metal band Dogs of Delphi combines earth shattering heavy metal hits and chops with ass shaking grooves. Based out of Kansas City Missouri, they are most often described as a combination of Black Sabbath, Clutch and Corrosion of Conformity. Singer Adam Vinck brings a commanding stage presence to their high energy live show. His vocal style is reminiscent of early Neil Fallon with dark rhythmical flows. Bassist Michael Christopher (formerly of Primer 55) provides his heavy slamming bass sound while guitarist Todd James drives the music with incredible rhythm and leads. Drummer Jason Byrd (formerly of Cherry Wench with Todd James) brings his thunderous heavy technical style and experience to tie it all together into the intense live musical performance that this band is known for.
The story starts about five years before the Koktopus was birthed. At a time when the four of us would get together and, over many drinks, kick around the idea of starting a metal band. We got together a few times over at the Crain Domain and jammed some cover tunes that we all knew but nothing ever came of it due everyones fucked up schedules. Then one night late in 2006, after a night of beer drinking and Jagermeister shots at the Longbranch, Big Dave & Adam resurrected the idea of forming a brutal heavy metal band. The next day Big Dave rolled with the idea and contacted Fletch about the idea of getting together again and playing some metal. Now with Big Dave on guitar, Adam on drums, and Fletch on vocals we began to jam some of our favorite cover tunes again. After a few weeks of getting back in the groove of things we began to write some songs of our own. With some time passing we were all pretty impressed with what we had accomplished and wanted to move on to the next step and find the missing piece of the band. We had brought a few different friends in to jam with us but nothing really seemed to come of it. Then one night on a whim we called Nick and left him a message wondering if he wanted to come over, check out the songs we had, and possibly sit in on bass with us. Within the next few practices Nick had learned all the songs we had and also brought with him the exact presence the band was looking for. With the joining of these four individuals came the the birth of the KOKTOPUS. From that point on we've been dedicated to making Heavy Metal music that not only we love but Metal fans all over the place can bang their fucking heads to.
