The Street Hearts
They don't have a CD. They've been a band for only a few short months. They are four college undergraduates who, despite their passion for music, are studying English/History, Cognitive Science, Engineering, and Dance. They are not yet known far away from UCLA. Still, perhaps the best way to describe them? “The best band you’ve not yet heard of, but should someday.”
Meanwhile, THE STREET HEARTS have already been discovered by LA-based luminaries and won more awards in their few short months than most bands win in a lifetime. One critic, when first hearing them, exclaimed, "What the folk!” In other words: easy to listen to, and even easier to love. Paula Abdul joined a panel of celebrity judges who selected The Street Hearts as BEST BAND at UCLA's 2013 Spring Sing, where they performed before 8,000 fans. These same 8,000 fans voted The Street Hearts as winners of the prestigious Bruin Audience Choice Award. Around the same time, The Street Hearts also won UCLA's JazzReggae 2013 Battle of the Bands and opened LA's JazzReggae Festival, despite their music being anything but jazz or reggae.
The Roxy is proud to have The Street Hearts' return after their debut gig outside UCLA on Oct 11. The band's members consist of Nicholai Hansen, from Brookline, MA, on bass/guitar/drum/vocals, and three native Californians: Andrew Giurgius on guitar/lead vocals, Nick Valentini on keyboards/vocals and Sarah Summers on banjo/guitar/vocals.
Take a chance on a new sound by an infectious new band you've never heard before, first by previewing them on Soundcloud and YouTube (search “Street Hearts UCLA”), read about them on Facebook (The Street Hearts) and then, as the band members themselves say, "Be there, or be not there."
Oh Dear Vegas
With their medley of explosive rock riffs and highly effective electro pop arrangements, OH DEAR VEGAS! is decidedly the French group that’s happening this year!
HANNA CARTER is a 13 yr old singer / songwriter from Northern California.
HANNA swirls teen dreams, angst, and honesty into a delightful blend of hopeful modern awareness.
HANNA's spirit shines with fresh lyrics, great melodies and catchy tunes far beyond her
thirteen years. HANNA takes the best parts of pop music and combines the
hook with a startling old soul style usually reserved for those twice her age.
We are ONE11, four great friends from the Palm Springs/Coachella area. We began our journey two years ago, forming ONE11 from two Coachella area bands. We have been busy ever since performing in over 200 shows in some of Southern California's top venues.
We are excited to have just released our new EP featuring 8 cool new songs. We are planning a radio release campaign early next year.
Through all the excitement that comes from swift growth of this journey, We have never turned our backs on the ideas we started the band with. We are a band built on honestly and sincerity, writing and performing solely from our hearts and minds making our music special having been written from the soul.
We want to give people something to believe in. In a world where music seems to have lost that true honesty and genuineness, we want to bring it back.
A+ Dropouts spend their days filling their report card with A+'s but when the school bell rings, they rock the stage with their high energy shows.

Blackhearts are a London 4 piece creating alt rock in the mould of Audioslave, Incubus, and Foo Fighters. They set the tone with crazy guitar sounds, driven by a dirty groovy rhythm section and intense vocals to deliver hooky melodies and rabble-rousing lyrics. Lead singer Andy is in the U.S to play Blackhearts songs acoustically for your ear holes!
Gravity Hill is a high energy rock band that has been performing to near capacity crowds who continually want more. So that is what Gravity Hill is giving them. They have embarked on their musical journey and will continue with crowd pleasing live performances as well as studio time working on their debut EP. They released their first single "Alive" in early 2013 and quickly climbed in popularity with fans and on the Reverbnation charts. Their musical energy and lyrics are appealing to a wide audience and have been compared to bands such as Paramore and Icons For Hire. However, the group is developing their own unique style evident in the songs they write and perform.
The four members of Gravity Hill are Lauren Dair Owens (vocals, bass, keyboard) and Adam Lusk (drums). While each musician has a range of musical tastes, they have merged their style to write and perform high energy rock music with an intricate lyrics and melody. Each member of this band brings an exciting energy to songwriting and performance, and their EP should not disappoint.
Lauren Owens is from Los Angeles via Anchorage, Alaska. She grew up listening to and has an appreciation for classic rock music. At the age of 10, Lauren started writing music, and she put out her first EP at the age of thirteen. Lauren has been compared to a young Joss Stone and has been performing since she was nine years old. Lauren also enjoys acting and plays the recurring young Zooey Deschanel ("Jess") on the hit Fox show “New Girl.” Lauren has an outgoing and fun, quirky personality and is known for being incredibly nice to everyone she meets. In her free time, she loves to downhill ski, archery and drawing/writing lyrics.
Adam Lusk is an actor and musician from San Diego, California and has been drumming since he was four. He can be seen regularly on the teen web show "Teens React." Music and being a drummer are his true passions, but when he's not drumming he also enjoys gaming, shooting arrows, airsoft, paintball, and Parkour. He comes from a family of musicians and has a personable style and humor about him that never fails to keep everyone entertained.
