The California Next Gen Film Festival presents the theatrical premiere and live filming of Bully-Mia a one-woman 60 minute comedy show written & performed by Sofia Marie Gonzalez.
The audience will laugh and learn as this Groundlings Comedy School alumnus, and Funny or Die comedienne, portrays 10 distinct Bullies. The one act multimedia play explores a young woman’s journey from victim to victor.
The show premieres at The Assembly Cabaret and Nightclub in Sacramento on Wednesday, August 28th at 8 pm. (Audience: 18 years and older; $15/ticket.) The show is directed by Jessica Johnson.
Bully-Mia comically exposes the various types of bullies in our midst. The bullies portrayed range from the verbally and physically abusive childhood and adolescent monsters, to the adult demanding divas and narcissists that try to wreak havoc on the life of the main character, Mia. The actor becomes 10 distinct comedic characters of difference ages, sex and gender to highlight the familiar reality that although bullies come in all shapes and sizes, there is one thing we all can do: stand up to them.
